ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!,DAVE AND THE GUYS AT SWEEETWATER WALKED ME THEOUGH THIS DECISION,TOLD WHAT SOUND I WAS WANTING TO ACHIEVE AND WITH A BRAND NEW SLASH EDITION LES PAUL AFD THEY RECOMENDED THE RUNT 20 AND CABNET.

Absolutely unbelievable

I have been lucky enough to have had some of the best amps made ,Marshall jcm800, DR Z train wreck jr vox ac 30 evh 5150 etc.. to many to mention,just got this Friedman runt 20 and was absolutely blown away, clean channel sounds incredible with only three different bright switches to add still sounds incredible, then there's the gain channel which has a Marshall type sound but not… read more as harsh in a good was you can hear all the notes played very well while still being very crunchy. With the gain at full tilt and the boost on the amp is still very quite which is incredible, fx loop dead silent,takes pedal in front of the amp or fx loop seamlessly . This is a classic rock machine and add a pedal to take to very hard rock ,the EQ is very tweakable have not had a bad sound anywhere on this amp to me this is the perfect amp in every way. Dave Friedman put it out of the park with this amp.thanks again to my sales rep CRAIG MILLS for pointing me in the perfect Direction.

Friedman Runt 20 Head

What an Amazing amp!! I had the Double J jr and it was cool but the lead channel was dark. Great for Jerry type of grinding rhythm but for me, I needed more tonal flexibility. It's super light weight and looks very cool Dave Friedman stands behind all of his gear and actually answers emails. I've emailed him on more than one occasion with something small, yet he always finds the time to reply. As someone who buys and sells a lot of amps, this one is a keeper and my main amp. Of course, my Sales Engineer (Nick) helped me work through a bunch or gear until I found the right set up. That's why I buy all of my gear through Sweetwater and when I need someone, Nick has never let me down. In fact, he was able to get me the Runt 20 head the next day for a recording session, when no one else could.

My first Friedman. WOW!

Bought the Runt 20 after a friend bought the 50. Reading reviews about Friedman amps they talk about 'touch response' and 'dynamics' and I didn't get it till I got mine. It's clear, responsive and a joy to play. I own an EVH 5150iii EL34 and Revv G20 and the Friedman is now my number 2 over the Revv. Just a great amp. Havent tried it with pedals yet but I'm sure the Runt will… read more be great with that too! Been playing with the Les Paul and I'm excited to try my Charvel DK and Strat.

Wow Marshall-ee beautiful sound both in cleans and dirty channels

We have several JCM 800’s , 900’s, 2000 and Silver Jubee....this Friedman has a beautiful sound and fits into a slot the others don’t have. Not saying they aren’t amazing iconic amps, this amp produces a smoother less edgy tone. So there is no redundancy in having this amp in our studio stable. The clean is awesome and it really doesn’t need EQ refinements and the switch… read more provides three very clean varieties of clean tone. Of course you can push it to get controllable break up. The dirty channel has 2 settings. I was told by Dave that the lower setting is actually a cut from the BE setting . Meaning the BE setting is not a boost but rather the full compliment of distortion. The build quality is top notch and the DI cab-free output is very usable. This amp is louder than our Mini Jubilee and it’s probably due to the massive Output transformer. Really nothing but great things to say about this amp.
