Better than the original
I was introduced to the SLO 100 in the studio over the past year. It quickly became the amp of choice and made its way onto nearly every song on my record. I liked it so much, that once the album was finished, I started making plans to buy one. I ended up choosing the 30 over the 100 because I have no use for 100 tube watts. I found this one as a demo model, and as soon as it came… read more in, I got it set up through my 2x12 Orange cab loaded with V30's. It was instantly gratifying. Everything I liked about the original Mike Soldano built SLO, but even better in some ways. Specifically, the original had a little more "sag" in the power section. So palm mutes could get muddy on lower tuned guitars, and would require an overdrive in front of the amp to clean things up. Not the case with the new model. Palm mutes are chunky and powerful, and I've yet to find a need fir an overdrive. One thing synonymous between the old and the new is the gain structure and a particular harmonic richness that's specific to the SLO. The SLO has more gain at 12 o'clock than a person could ever use. Tone wise, it's everything you'd expect from the SLO, but the improvements they've made make this even better than the original in my opinion. And I LOVE the original.
Amazing amp
This amp can do it all. I had to experience the high gain tones in person based on the reviews I came across, and let me tell you something it exceeded all my expectations. It delivers one of the most satisfying OD tones I have ever experienced! Expensive but worth every penny. I love the salt and pepper grille finish. Thanks to Khaleed Matmati for the feedback he provided.
Wow, this Amp is my Dream Amp
I've had this SLO-30 paired with the 2 x 12 Cabinet for about 4 months now. I'm thrilled with the performance of this Amp. I can get very nice Cleans out of it and on the Lead Channel this Amp Chugs. Everything that I've ever heard about Saldano's quality is right here packed in this little bugger. It is very loud, I've never had it past 1/2 volume and it blows me against the… read more back wall. I like the effects loop and pre-amp gains. I haven't had a chance to use the Line Out but I plan to record with it soon so I will run that into my Mixer. I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I'm thinking of getting an active load box to reduce the overall volume a smidge since I would like to still be able to hear in a year. I can't wait till things open back up after COVID19 and get this out of my basement and really let it RIP! It was a bit pricey but very worth it. I will never say,"I wish I bought a better Amp" I'm Very Happy with this purchase. (eye candy in the corner of my Rock Cave)
