Hard to tell the difference
I have always had a problem with acoustic guitar pickups not "coloring" the unamplified sound of my guitars. These KNA pickups are phenomenal, in that it us gard to tell any noticeable difference between unplugged and plugged in. They are also unbelievably easy to install. After purchasing and using this model, I've purchased the humbucking version, for a dreadnought guitar,… read more to replace the onboard pickup, THAT CAME INSTALLED ON IT! That's how much I like these KNA pickups. I also have installed two of the slide in under strings, KNA pickups, with the same quality and honesty of tone. Well worth the investment. JL
Great single coil!
Ran this through my old Martin J15 and Fishman amp. Very natural sound. Not too boomy or tinny. Well balanced. Easy to install too.
Great pick up
This is a beautiful piece of equipment. The harmonics are out of this world.. love it.
The good and the annoying
The evenness of pickup between the strings is a big improvement over single magnet pickups. Also the signal strength is greater. I was very pleased with these characteristics. My disappointment was in the cable supplied with it (originally listed as a convenient 8 inches in the ad, but actually 80 inches). It plugs into a small 1/8 socket on the pickup, and terminates with… read more a male 1/4 jack, OK if you're plugging directly into your amplifier. However I use standard patch cables or small wireless transmitters, which need a 1/4 inch female socket from the guitar. Sweetwater then sold me a short, about 9", 1/8 to 1/4 patch cord but still with the undesired Male 1/4 jack. To convert to terminating this in a 1/4 female socket, they also sold me a heavy, bulky 4"long 1/4 female to 1/4 female adapter. I did have to fasten the output cable to my guitar face to prevent the 1/8 plug from pulling out with the additional load on the cable. I found a solution in a Sennheiser 9" male 1/8 plug to 1/4 socket adapter (not available from Sweetwater). In addition I used a couple of small removable adhesive cable clips to secure this cord to the guitar so the weight of my wireless transmitter or extension cord wouldn't dislodge the 1/8 plug from the pickup. Overall I'm now satisfied, but wonder why they didn't have a cord directly from the pickup (rather than the weak 1/8 connect), and whichever then terminated in a 1/4 socket (as is my single coil pickup).
Works great, looks even better
I purchased this for use with my Blueridge BR 143 000 Acoustic. The magnetic pickup works great when being run through a decent DSP amp. The pickup also looks really nice. Do not think twice, great value and Sweetwater Music"s support made for an easy decision to purchase. Thanks Sweetwater!
