The perfect solution
I'm using this in a house band playing five nights a week on a pier in Myrtle Beach. My tube amp was heavy to lug around and too loud once I got it in "the zone". I set the Superblock UK so that it breaks up slightly when I hit the strings hard and push it with a couple of dirt pedals. Sounds like a tube amp, gets plenty loud and subtle reverb and limiter settings on the unit get… read more me a great base tone. The DI works as it should, no need to mic my single 12 cabinet. Weighs less than two pounds and best of all, even with both overdrive pedals engaged the Superblock UK cleans up spectacularly with the guitar volume rolled back. Quilter you broke the solid state code with this thing! Thanks Sweetwater and Kurt Martin!
Quilter Superblock UK is the Best!!!
I bought the Quilter Superblock UK to use at home with a small closed back Mesa Boogie 1 x 10 cabinet. I own a couple Quilter combo amps and love them. I have giged with Quilter amps for several years and they are the best amps for what I do. I bought this Superblock to see if it really has an AC 30 sound and it really does! Not only that but a great Marshal and Top Boost sounds… read more too. This thing is fantastic and I believe it has enough power to gig with! It's amazing that something this small can be so big sounding. It's played out like any other amp and even has the ability to go direct to the board with cab simulators. I can also use it without the speaker and just headphones for silent practice. The actual sound of this thing is unbelievable .........I was not prepared for how great this little box is. I've tried other small amps but none really had anywhere near the ability to dial in great sounds nor could they stand up to the power of this thing even though some claimed a lot more power. If you record at home or want a great sounding amp that is really small........buy it!!!
Quilter Superblock UK
I've had this for about a week and have been having a blast running it through all my different cabinets (numerous 10s and 12s of different shapes and sizes). It sounds great through everything, and records beautifully--the direct out is pristine. I actually feel like it has broken in since I first plugged it in and played--the clean were really good, but I wasn't sure if the gain… read more was as powerful as I'd like--but after a week, it just smokes, especially in the Marshall mode. I tend to keep the limiter way down, and it seems to increase the sustain and gain a bit. The two AC30 settings are really, really close to real as well. What I'm really impressed by is the way it takes pedals and responds--the sag and fatness of the tone feel exactly like my other tube amps. With a Tube Screamer set low on level and gain, I can get days of sustain and tone. I have three other tube amps and if I had to do a blind audio comparison, I don't think I could tell the difference. In fact it might sound better than any of them. Every guitar I have, single coil or humbucker, sounds exactly like they are supposed to with very little knob adjustment on the Quilter. It's smaller than two Boss pedals put together and sounds huge. I could and can gig with it, no problem, especially through my Marshall 4x10 cab. The direct out to a board is a huge help. Just cool as hell.
Awesome
This amp sounds great! The 1979 JMP voice has a ton of gain while the AC voices are round and musical. Amp works very well with pedals. I'm running it into a 4ohm 212 cabinet with celestions cream back speakers and it sounds awesome! It is very loud despite only being 25 watts- highly recommend!
Wow...
Ever plug into something and the sound of it immediately makes you smile? But then you keep messing with the dials and find that there's a bunch of different yet equally good settings that also invoke bliss? And then you plug in all your favorite pedals and they somehow magically all sound better than they ever have before?? I've owned prohibitively expensive amplifiers, and never… read more before have I felt so spoiled. Hats off to Quilter, Pat is a genius :3
