A little amp in a box with a big punch
I needed an amp to use live onstage while performing with my friend who sings and plays acoustic guitar. Another friend recommended this amp to me. Needless to say, the amp was perfect for everything I needed it for. The fact that it fits on my pedal board and can plug into it makes gigging so much easier. Can't wait to use it again. Thank you, Quilter!
This amp in a box does the trick!
Everything about this amp is perfect. Perfect for gigs at bars, clubs, and restaurants. Great tone. Very happy with it.
This amp is just awesome!
I bought this amp after reading some great reviews on it. The reviews were right on. It it this tiny pedal size amp, that is loud as hell. I like the 57 setting - has a bit more gain. All three settings sound like real fender amps. I totally love it. Fits right on my pedal board. Can't wait to try it out on a PA system. I have some high end gear too - Dr Z Zwreck Jr, Fargen… read more Miniplex, Tone King Imperial Mark II. But I live this amp!
Amazing pedal platform and practice amp
I'd been seeking an amp to use as a pedal platform. Most pedals are designed to complement the sonic EQ of Fender amps, which means it had to be super clean. I already had a cab, so I was looking for an affordable amp head capable of those sparkling Fender cleans. I was also looking for a low power amp so I could play at night when everyone was asleep. Stumbled across the Superblock… read more US and it's absolutely amazing. The main selling point to me was not heavily advertised: Plugged into the supplied power adapter it's 25W, but plugged into a 9A pedal power supply it is a 1W practice amp. You can even stick it on your pedal board. The amp voicings are really cool: 57 is a vintage dark tone, 61 is insanely sparkling and 65 is inbetween. At super low volumes, I love the 61 voicing clean or paired with my PAL800 Marshall-style overdrive. I opted for the US model because it's like 3 Fender amps in a single head, rendering it a perfect pedal platform through which I can run all the amp-in-a-box pedals I want. So I can get all those UK sounds on the US model with a few pedals. You can also use it with the preamps of a Pod Go. I also purchased this as a travel headphone amp. Unplugging a cab, you can plug in headphones and use the cab sims. And it's small enough to store in my guitar case. There are other pedal amps out there, but this one has the most features. It's significantly superior to my EHX 5mm pedal amp for a bunch of reasons: it sounds better, it stay cleaner longer, it has a preamp (so you can dial in some overdrive), it can be quieter (1W vs 2.5W), the volume knob isn't as sensitive, it has a power switch, it has an FX loop, it has built-in reverb, headphone jack, etc. This Quilter is a solid state amp, not a modeling amp. It features an entirely analog signal path, including the cab sims (according to what I've read from reps on a forum). The only digital feature is the reverb. Honestly, this is so cool. It's a terrific amp head that sounds like a Fender amp at an affordable price without all the fuss of tubes. And for me the most important features are often overlooked: it's not only a 25W micro beast, it's also a 1W practice amp and a headphone amp with cab sims. I highly recommend this amp. Random: the box features a hologram of Pat Quilter holding a sword looking like some sort of hippy knight.
My go to amp(s)
First- a big thanks to AJ Becera for all of his excellent customer service over the years. He's the reason I keep coming back. I've tried so many tube amps and really never got the tone and performance that I wanted. Getting a tube amp dialed in for a venue can be a real challenge. I recently purchased the the American voiced Super Block because the UK version really wowed me.… read more The tone is very warm and responds well to picking dynamics as well - without all the tube amp hiss. I gig small clubs and I am a plug straight in player with no pedals. This small amp is plenty loud and the controls are exceptionally responsive. Dialing the dirt I need is very easy at any volume level and being able to DI into the PA is great. It sounds great and responds just as a tube amp would to picking dynamics. The Eq controls are very responsive and make it easy to tweak the tone at any venue. The gain works very well for that overdriven tube sound. Since I've been using both these amps (American and UK) other players have been very complimentary to the cleans and the overdrive it generates. This was hardly the case when lugging heavy tube amps around. I think I have given up on the tube amp. I pair it with a 112 cab for gigs and a Toob cab from Finland (see pic)for smaller gigs and practice - which weighs in at a whopping 15 lbs.. There is no down side for my use and I do not miss the amp hiss and weight of a tube amp. I just purchased a bass and I will by the Quilter 45 bass head as well in the near future. Nice work Quilter!
