Friedman Twin Sister Amphead
Another amazing masterpiece, by the Tone God, Dave Friedman. Like a Marshall JTM-45 Amphead on Steroids, with some of Dave's Special Sauce. Has the best sounds for classic rock. I've had mine for over 1 year, and I love it. It's the second Friedman Amphead that I bought. My first was a BE-50 deluxe. Once I bought that, for my first amphead from Friedman, Friedman became my Favorite… read more Amp Company, Besides Metropoulos. Mine sounds great through my Friedman 2x12, that I had Sweetwater put two Greenbacks in. Also sounds great through my Friedman 4x12, with Dave's speaker combination, 2 GREENBACKS on Top and 2 Vintage 30's on the bottom. Buy yourself one. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Sweetwater and TJ FUCHELLA.
Two glorious channels of luscious tone!
This amp sounds incredible and is very fun to play for hours on end. Two identical channels that can be set up how you like them and super easy to dial in great tones. You can get pristine clean tones with tons of headroom as well as sparkling or chewy vintage crunch and even hot rodded Classic brown tones. The amp cuts through live and studio mixes while still sounding sweet and… read more musical. The amp has a great feel and is super easy to play into. The master volume is so good you can get cranked tones at living room conversation levels, and even better when turned up. The effects loop is super quiet and transparent. The amp takes pedals very well including fuzzes. If you love big fat tones that are perfectly voiced you will love this amp. It is built beautifully. Very versatile and top level sounding amp that plays ad feels amazing under the fingers. There is no bad sound in this amp. Get one if you can!
Outstanding!
The Twin Sister sounds and feels unbelievable. 5 out of 5 Great amp. The tolex on the corners are not the best who cares This thing rocks big time!
Couldn't Be More Satisfied!
I choose the Twin Sister because I wanted the dual "cloned" channels. I wanted an amp that would give me an amazing moderately distorted classic British tone, and then that same sound only louder for leads. My band is large and loud. Prior to the Twin Sister I couldn't find any configuration of stacked pedals that would give me the significant boost I needed to cut through with… read more solos. My preferred tone is just distorted enough to swallow boost and overdrive pedals and spit out overly compressed and clipped yuck. This amp solves the problem in spades. The tone is gorgeous and maintains a clean quality even when the gain is cranked. It is unique in this way, and as a result it handles pedals on the front end well. The amp literally sings and makes playing seem easier - yet the notes remain clear and intact. And when I need to go over the top I just click on the second channel with higher volume settings. At my last gig I asked the keyboard player if I was too loud. He said, "yeah you were loud as hell, but it didn't bother me. The louder you got the better we sounded." So for a guitar oriented band this amp is glue. And don't worry, it's a pretty loud 40 watts. My previous amp was a Metropolis 100 watter. Before that a JCM800. The Twin Sister isn't as loud as the Metropolis, but it is **** near as loud as the 50watt Marshall. I am never lacking for volume. I can't comment on clean tone, but for edge of breakup to moderate gain this amp doesn't have a bad sound in it. ME LOVE my Friedman. Thanks Dave. PS - The effects loop is frantastic. I run an old SDE-3000 in it and it transports me to the 80's.
Great Amp but with a Surprise Inside
Let me say first this is an amazing amplifier. Extremely versatile, takes pedals like a champ (although I seldom use them because this is a tone monster), master volume is one of the best I've ever used. If you remember the master volumes of old and are hesitant about purchasing a MV amp don't be. Dave has figured out the secret sauce for low volume grind without the tone suck.… read more This is modeled after a JTM45 and with the 5881's it has that sound. The cleans are very deep into Fender territory to my ears and with all the switching options getting her to grind is easy peasy lemon squeezy. Now for the nit picky stuff. The finish of the cabinet around the front control panel was not as nice as I would expect on an expensive amplifier, specifically the silver trim detail. And now for the surprise inside, this is a circuit board amp. Does it matter? That's up to you but at the price out the door it's something to consider. If you're a point to point wiring freak this isn't for you. That being said this is one beefy circuit board and done VERY well. Tube sockets are NOT directly into the board, neither are the control pots or anything else important. Overall very rugged and well done. So just know that when a manufacturer advertises an amp as "hand wired" that does not necessarily mean point to point. In conclusion I love this thing, another winner from Friedman.
