Great Amp

I got the VH Micro thinking it will be fun. I plugged it in and Wow! its Sounded great. I play it through a 1-12 cab with celestion Redback speaker and it is awesome. I also played it through my MESA oversized cab as well. Has more than enough gain and is really heavy sounding lots of low end I didn't expect to get out of a little solid state amp. No Clean tone here and that is read more fine with me. Great little amp for metal.

A mini VH4 Mega Channel! For better and for worse

So off the top, let me say this product is excellently built, and the controls on the front are great and responsive, lovely little machine. The only complaints I have are more inherent to Diezel than they are to "mini amps." If you haven't played a Diezel before, here's something important to know. I have been lucky enough to own a VH2 briefly (Which has the VH4's channel 3 (Mega read more channel) as the second channel) and I have an axe-fx III which has a great simulation of the VH4's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th channels, so I can confirm that this replicates the Mega channel well, it's just that the Mega channel is an odd beast. While Fender is known for sparkling highs and Marshall is known for upper mid bite, Diezels really put their emphasis on ridiculously low frequency low end, and also a fat chewy midrange, and that's what catches most people (including me off guard). So what's the issue? Well, part of the appeal is the grunty low end, and you can pump up the low end a good bit with the deep control, but there's only so much you can do with a solid state amp. It sounds bigger than it is, but it's not rivalling any tube amp with a resonance knob any time soon. So what you have left is the chewy midrange, which is pretty great for nice leads, but at this point you need to manipulate the amp somehow to use it for any kind of rhythm in my opinion. I found myself pushing the treble and presence hard to get some bite, and while the low low end was easy to control, the regular low end bass is really thick and round, and hard to tighten up. You can see why the most famous uses of this amp end up mixing it with something else. James Hetfield, Adam Jones, and even Ian D'Sa all mix it with something that has more bite. And that comes to my issue with this particular unit. You get one crazy specific sound and extra knobs to tune it, but I think the BE mini is gonna get you a much more usable sound out of the box with some extra switches to get different character out of it. Meanwhile the VH mini delivers one firey fat distortion tone that feels really nice, but that's it. Tightening it up or changing it's character is pretty difficult. If you love the VH Mega sound, this is it with a slightly gutted Resonance, but if you're a metal head like me or a more marshall-y guy, I think the BE mini (or maybe the Bogner mini!) are much better alternatives. Plugged this in today through my PRS 4x12 with v30s. Added a tube screamer and this amp honestly blew me away... for the price... the size and sound.. You'd be stupid not buy this. If you are a fan of the classic VH4 sound, GET THIS NOW!
