Great After Setup

Beautiful bass for the money, and the good folks at Sweetwater really came through for me. As a long-time P-Bass player, I finally came to the realization that some songs in some keys require the low B-string to sound right. After carefully considering what's out there, I decided to go with the Yamaha BB235 5-string in Vintage White based on looks, price, and its simplicity. When read more I received it there was tremendous fret noise with some of the strings, so I figured I was going to have to spring for a professional setup (including better strings). To my pleasant surprise, Sweetwater agreed to reimburse me. Now that's customer service.

Good, but can be better

The bass sounds good and looks nice. What was disappointing is the quality of the build. It was great the first few weeks but the neck started to warp and I generally know how to set up my basses. Managed to get it pretty low but there seems to always be fret buzz no matter how much I try to adjust it. The tuners are a little loose and the string tree has shifted a little. The B read more string sounds a little flimsy and a little uneven from string to string. If you are a BB fan looking to get your hands on one without breaking the bank, go for it and just mod it. But if you are looking for a quality budget bass to play as is, maybe look elsewhere.

I bought this bass a few months ago and I have to say this bass sounds totally awesome. considering that this bass is passive, it is quite versatile. it's very useful for many genres. including metal. it sounds great for live and recording. it also sounds really cool with effects like distortion and modulation. if you want a passive bass guitar that's really versatile, definitely read more check out this bass.
