I originally purchased a vintage BB Bass back in 2017 lost it during hurricane Harvey. Needless to say I assumed their was no way I'd find a comparable recording ace at a affordable price. Thankfully I couldn't have been more wrong. I keep wanting to not like something about this bass because it's not made in japan, and I'm on a real country of origin kick right now. I'm a session… read more guitarist with a bunch of American guitars, but lately people have been calling for bass work. Jaw dropping expressions from people hearing my latest works. Although, I'm really struggling not to pull the trigger on a Fender American Pro Jazz. I have to say this BB Bass is a certified new classic.

Decided to give Yamaha a try and not disappointed. The maple fretboard/neck has a fast response with an even tonal character throughout the range. Hard maple with walnut stringers and reinforced 6 bolt neck pocket plays into the quick response. P and J bass pickups with a very linear volume and tone controls. No charging bursts of mids. However, they can be easily dialed in… read more for 'Jaco' when needed. I put flats on it and push two Big Bands with this bass. No need to bust a budget with others.
