Unique in the right way
It has it's own unique sound but not such that it limits it's usefulness. As with the other Walrus pedals I own it does not disappoint. EQ and drive controls are powerful and intuitive. Sound and build quality are excellent. Least important but always a bonus with Walrus is it looks great.
Roll Film
The demos for this pedal were pretty good, and it's one of the coolest concepts for a pedal that I've ever encountered, so I went ahead and bought the beautiful Santa Fe version. Far surpassed my expectations, and the previous reviewer who mentioned a surprising amount of gain is right on the money. One of my favorite of my many overdrive pedals. Do yourself the favor.
Great overdrive pedal
I have several overdrive pedals covering a wide range of tones, so I didn't expect to like the 385 so much. It is a great pedal with unique and useful tones.
Great pedal if used right
Great for amps with a midrange focus as this pedal adds a lot of sweetness. Surprisingly high gain and adds a beautiful soft yet high gain. Really begins to fuzz at high levels or when combined with a light gain OD worked really well with a klone. Also this pedal is for people who can play loud, it really sounds mushy at bedroom volumes.
VERY usefull drive pedal
After using the 385 for over 4 months now I have found it to be an awesome tool. It is so musical anywhere you set the gain knob. Gos from totally clean to fuzz/distortion. It has a lot of treble so I don't go past noon with that knob very often. The bass is very supportive even cranked. It crunches and thumps really hard and yet without changing the settings can articulate soft… read more stunning light single notes, hit em harder and they ring out crystal clear and sustain forever. Id put this pedal in the Rat killer catagory
