Stellar Gain Pedal
Have been using the Walrus Ages pedal for 2 years now, and I'm hooked. The Ages is extremely versatile. I wanted a gain/drive pedal that had good control over tone, and the ability to be transparent when I wanted it to. Have it in front of my vintage 1980 Carvin 2x12 100 watt combo, and combined with the clean channel, it sounds epic. The Walrus Ages pedal is my favorite of… read more all. Home Run!
Amazing Overdrive
I love this pedal. I honestly need to take more time to play with the features. So many options. So many possibilities.
Walrus Ages
I tried out a number of overdrives at Sweetwater's HQ and this one was instantly amazing. It sounds even better now that I can take my time to adjust it to my liking. This overdrive pedal seems to do everything perfectly, giving me the exact right tone for just about anything. The EQ knobs are super effective and sound great.Love the dry knob too! Highly recommend.
Always on
The ages overdrive does everythign i want it to do. I was looking for an upgrade to my previous OD. I wanted something that I could turn on for clean and make it sound like it wasn't even there. So for cleans (since I love my clean tones), the 1st stage is imperceivable in a good way. perfect for boosting the signal plenty and also great for edge-of-breakup saturation. Stage 2 is… read more like having the gain up for low gain distortion sound. 3 and 4 and 5 are excellent gain-y overdrives. I love running my bridge pickup into Stage 4 with high gain for a crisp mathrock/J-rock sound on my rhythm sections. The biggest selling point for me when I bought this was something I don't see advertised a lot. The EQ knobs adjust the signal PRE-gain. This means I get to control what will overdrive first instead of just shaping the signal after distorting. Huge gamechanger in how I treat dirt in my signal. Also, for me, i love the ability to blend my original signal back into the mix with the dry knob. This is my always-on pedal and i love how sturdy it is. the knobs have a satisfying smoothness to them and they aren't loose to where it feels finicky.
WOW!
I've played almost one of everything to this point in the overdrive world and this one is definitely in my top 5! It reminds me of the Strymon Riverside in some ways. The lower gain settings have a nice smooth breakup. In the higher gain settings with a decent boost paired with it you can even get some metal tones! This pedal is very versatile and low noise considering how high… read more gain the circuit can be! This one ain't leaving my board.
