Archer Ikon Boost/Overdrive Pedal Review

Awesome pedal. Until you get it and hear it with your own ears thru your rig you really can't appreciate what it does to a guitar. Online videos don't do justice IMO. If your on the fence, go for it. I did and I'm happy I did!

(And Ears) WOW...The very first Setting too! I bet this pedal doesn't have a bad setting! You know, kinda like a Record Album and every Tune is a HIT! LOL! Best $199 I ever spent on a Guitar Effect. The Sauce

So this pedal does this magic thing! It gives you a smooth mids boost without robbing the other frequencies. It's one of those pedals that just takes whatever you have and gives it life. I use it to "push" my Vertex Ultra Phonix and it's radical! I get this very mid focused and present overdrive that doesn't sound nasally or harsh to the ears. It's smooth, it's thick, it's everything… read more your rig was before, just that 10% better. But it's the right 10%. If you're in that place where you "like" what you've got but you're not "in love" with what you've got, this will take you there. I'm ridding my setup of the EP booster accordingly. That's a good pedal, this is a magic pedal.

Ikonic Epicness

Literally the same minute I had it plugged into my set up and turned it on, the tone that I have sought after for years was emulating from my amp. I tweaked it to where it was low gain then clicked on the Burnley Bogner and I was shocked, surprised and ecstatic to hear what was being produced with the addition of this little golden box. Sold My KTR After Trying One of These...

My KTR had been a mainstay of my rig for over a year before I decided to look into cheaper alternatives after noticing the climbing secondary market prices! I tried the Tumnus Deluxe and about a half-dozen others before trying this pedal. The same day I got this one the KTR was listed for sale! It responds very well to boost/OD pedals placed in front - my board currently consists of a BOSS TU3 tuner into a Lil' Stevie Fat pedal (a custom-built 2-stage Midrange boost), into an Xotic RC Boost (the previous version) into a Catalinbread Naga Viper into the Ikon. No longer need to use the amp's clean channel as I now set it for a "punky clean" and let the various pedals "do their thing" to get the 3-4 basic sounds I need to play our music.
