This was actually a gift, but I've heard it's great. It's hard to go wrong with Friedman.

One of the best overdrive pedals!

This is one of the best overdrive pedals I own. I am using it with a Dr Z. Remedy and Les Paul. The tone coming out of this combo is unreal!

Great tone!

I bought this pedal to give some life to a 30 year-old Peavey Rage 158. I know, right?!Since the purchase, I have had a difficult time finding the tone I kept hearing other users post on YouTube videos. I tried every setting and the tone just came back muddy and muffled. I pretty much was ready to throw the pedal and my amp under the bus when something lucky happened. The pickup read more selector switch was damaged by FedEx when my guitar was shipped. I finally got around to having it replaced, when, voila, the tone out of my "rig" finally came through! So now I can write a review based on all the facts. And in my mind, the facts support a 5-star rating. This pedal is driving a delicious tone through an old, solid state amp that wasn't all that good even in its best day. Until now! Setting the gain to 12 o'clock delivers. Heck even 9 o'clock has gain for days.FYI, this pedal doesn't come with its own power source. Friedman's instructions recommends a 9-18V center negative adapter. I emailed Friedman customer service to find out what they recommended and I heard back from Dave Friedman himself! He strongly recommended a 9V adapter to minimize background noise, and his advice was on-point. I bought this adapter from Sweetwater, so make sure to order one of these along with the pedal if you need one..While I can only imagine what this pedal will do when run through a good tube amp, this pedal has been a great purchase even given the limitations of the amp I'm using. I'd recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a heavy British style tone.

Great Pedal

This thing turned my Bad Cat Cub into a fire breathing monster. I was worried a pedal with this much gain would play nice with the Bad Cat but I was thankfully wrong. It has a really tight percussive gain and has that 4x12 thump character to it with a ton of clarity. Exactly what I was looking for. My only complaint is it seem a little noisy compared to others. I supposed that's read more to be expected with these types of distortions though. You really don't notice it once you start playing.

A great overdrive with lots of options.

Overdrive pedals have come a long way over the decades. I bought my first tube screamer in the early eighties, and many other different brands over the years trying to get that eighties hair metal tone. The Friedman BD-OD gives you the capabilities of going from a great blues driver, to a modern scoop machine. A cool option with this overdrive is you can remove the back cover and read more there is a trim knob to reduce the gain output, and this pedal has tons of gain. I set my trim knob at three o'clock, and set the gain on the front of the pedal at two o'clock, fine tune the bass, treble, and tight control, and you have the tones of early Van Halen, Warren DeMartini, George Lynch, ect. I put my BE-OD in front of my Soldano hot rod 50 on the low channel and there's tone for days. Highly recommended.
