My Favorite OD (And I've Tried A Lot)
I got the Belle Starr a couple of years ago from a local shop (I don't think Sweetwater was carrying J.A. pedals yet at the time) and since then it as been a staple on my board. I have used it with Vox AC15/30, Fender HRD/Deluxe, and various Kemper profiles and HX Stomp amp models. It worked very well in each of those situations. I primarily use it as my stage 2 medium gain OD,… read more but I have also used it as more of a clean preamp as well with certain amps. I usually have a Timmy as my stage 1 light drive, and the Belle stacks really nicely with that for thicker rhythm sounds that fill out the lower midrange nicely in a live band situation. I'm not sure what exactly the Body control is doing, but it seems to shift the low end and low mids in a way that is super useful when I switch between my 335 and my strat.
