Absolutely Amazing
I have no idea why Fender made this pedal because it is literally perfect for my needs and no one elses. And given the fact that there are about 2 reviews for this thing it seems like Fender had a wiretap in my house. Rest assured, This pedal is fantastic and if you have oddly specific needs this pedal is for you. They essentially crammed two of their other pedals, The Bends and… read more The Pugilist to make this monstrosity. I was considering buying both pedals but I was having a hard time justifying purchasing both of them. Then I noticed that this pedal exists and decided to try it out. The compressor half is extremely subtle. You can make the compression work harder if you want to but I am not a big fan of in-your-face compressors. It just so slightly reduces the high-end and brings the low-end up to create a sound that lasts for days and feels like butter under your fingers. The Distortion half is excellent as a clean-boost. I don't really like the sound of the distortion. This isn't to say the Distortion is bad. Its just not a sound that I'm particularly after but it's nice to have the sonic capability available should I run across a song where it would become necessary. Once the gain is rolled off the Distortion barely colors the tone at all and adds the Oomph necessary for clean leads. The only thing I don't like about the pedal is I miss the Amp-Jewel that is on most of the other pedals that Fender makes. I wish it were just arbitrarily added for the aesthetic. Beyond that its durable and exceptionally pretty. If you really wanted both The Pugilist and The Bends effect pedals but didn't care for the extra functionality of having both pedals individually, and also wanted both of those effects in a smaller form factor that doesn't crowd your pedal board, and also want to save a tiny bit of money, then this pedal is for you.
