Sorry I didn't buy this one from Sweetwater. Barely used but I say all who look buy one! Thicker (is that C-shape?)neck but skinny width like a melody maker. Unlike many guitars, the middle toggle really gets it! Plug it in or fool around while watching tv. I bought to have something different and it turned out to be such a fun guitar

Back in the sixties, I learned guitar on a $25 flattop that made my fingers bleed. I wouldn't stop so my mother, feeling sorry for me I guess, figured I was serious about this guitar thing and bought me an electric guitar. It was a '65 Mustang, blue (wish I still had that guitar) Anyway I got good fast and was asked to teach. I had a student with flaming red hair, showed up for read more his first lesson with a Danelectro and a Silvertone amp. I felt sorry for him having to settle for such cheap equipment. Boy was I stupid. He quickly outpaced me, dropped his lessons, and later developed into a fine guitarist, much better than I ever was. I received my red Stock '59 Danelectro today. What a magnificent instrument. Perfect intonation, setup was correct when it arrived. All I had to do was stretch the strings and tune it up. Incredible. My songs came alive with this instrument. Inspiring. Now I know how right my red-haired guitar savant was. A Danelectro was no impediment to his playing. It was a godsend.

Built better than vintage model

if you're an old guy like me and owned several of these short horn Danelectros back in the day you will appreciate the authentic detail of this model. it's build quality is actually better than the vintage model. Better neck, frets, truss rod than the original. Nice they kept with the small Kluson type tuners rather than the clunky big Grover style tuners that do not belong. I guess read more nobody makes those original white knobs anymore. I don't know if it sounds the same as my vintage '65 model but I imagine it's in the ballpark. Even the fret ends are a little sharp just like the originals but I fixed that!

Nice job Danelectro!

I love the '58-'65 Danelectro short horn, and this is a faithful reissue of that! It has the right tuners, the right bridge, the right pickups, and actually a better neck and fret job than the originals. Also has an adjustable truss rod which the originals did not have. A versatile no-nonsense economy single-coil guitar!

This guitar has "twang" from here to Pluto!

I play primarily melody surf guitar in a local band so "twang" is the name of the game for me. When I plugged this Dano into my amp and let her ring I was blown away by the perfect surfy sound she produced. Light weight, well balanced on a strap, and a very smooth and playable neck all come together to form a combination that I'm going to put to a lot of use cranking out the 'verb read more drenched, twangy melodies I love to play!

If yer a handyman , do you have ONE screwdriver ? Of course not . Guitars are tools and I got over gear lust many years ago and have been in vintage rooms that looked like guitar petting-zoo-museums . Comfortable to handle and wear . In fact , I have really strong average sized hands , it's a tad thin in the neck , but the scale length is nice at 25" , placing it nicely between read more most fender and Gibson . Profile is pretty flat , and being a nylon/classical player -- I get nostalgic for . The semi-hollow body is somewhat similar to a casino -- which I also like the sound of . The things that make it unique in tone: 1) metal nut 2) one-of-kind pickups 3) wood bridge 3.1) you Expect a great setup from sweetwater . Really nice folks , thanks . Made in SOUTH KOREA -- which I have found to have very prideful craftsmanship in the value-oriented market . A good buy . Oh , and it's a one piece neck , not like some others that are 2-pieces ... you know ... I would like to see a few neck shape options and a $500-ish mega accurate vintage reissue , with super original materials and craftsmanship (think Victoria amps) made in the USA if possible . Yes , I will own even the pastel colored ones . And you will be able to sell it for the same price plus inflation in 10 years when the girl you want attention from sees you playing it, MARRIES YOU, then hates the attention you get ;-)

Great Guitar Exactly What I Expected!

This guitar is awesome!

I just recently got one of these guitars in the aquamarine finish and I love it! The guitar looks and sounds great! These newer danos are made in Korea and the quality is amazing! The Danelectro DC '59 is one of my all time favorite guitars. I especially love this one because it has the old style wooden bridge that you'd find on the originals. This model doesn't have stacked volume read more and tone knobs, but instead has master volume and tone knobs... which I prefer. It's a great guitar, buy one! You won't be disappointed.
