As an owner of a Rickenbacker 360/12, A Taylor acoustic-electric 12-string, and a TEO 12-string mando-guitar, I feel as though I'm fairly well-qualified to review this guitar. And I'll just launch by saying this is the best playing, most enjoyable 12-string I've ever picked up. Period. The guitar arrived with a very, very good set-up right out of the box. Intonation was good, frets read more were excellent; the truss rod wanted a tiny tweak, otherwise it was flawless. The lipstick pickups work well and produce a distinclive jangly sound, particularly on the bridge p/u. Nobody will mistake this for a Ric, but it's close enough for government work -- plenty of chime and jangle from the bridge pickup. I absolutely love the sound of it. I won't be using the neck pickup all that much, but it's OK, I suppose...muddier; best suited for strmming rhythm patterns. The constuctio is simple enough and the materials moreso. My only ding on the whole affair is that the volume and tone pots had just zero taper -- they could have been replaced with buttons or a toggle swithc, as they were on or off -- no gradation. So I had tose replaced with some quality pots and now it's wonderful. The playing experience couldn't be better. The neck is sent straight from heaven; it's that good -- fairly wide and flat, easy to strum, finger-pick, do single-note runs...in fact, I can play just about any of my 6-string solos on this thing with ease. The payability is just absolutely amazing. And it's light and well-balanced on the strap, making it a delight to gig with. The guitar stays in tune amazingly well, and is just a breeze to work with. I even adore the pastel colors that the guitar is available in. Mine is aqua, and it looks great and turns heads every time I pick it up in public. So I'll sum it up this way: need an electric 12-string? You've come to the right place. This is without a shadow of a doubt the one to buy.

This guitar sounds great. Has that sorta 60's sound to it and sounds better through a Surf n Turf compressor and a Fab chorus. Captures the Byrds, Beatles and British Invasion thing. My only complaint is that Danelectro should have put matching knobs on it for volume and tone. Other than that, it's great.

Thank you Sweetwater for your great service! And Thank you Josh (Sales rep.) This guitar is of very good quality. The neck was adjusted perfectly. The bridge is good quality and the intonation is dead on rarely found on any guitar. The tunning pegs are also good quality. The nut action was way too high. This seems to be a common error on most guitars manufactured these days. So consider read more having Sweetwater or someone cut the nut to the correct depth. This is critical on all guitars but if not correct on a 12 string you will be fighting the guitar, especially playing a F bar chord. I have the bridge set as low as possible now that I adjusted the nut correctly. The guitar plays very nice and sounds great! The string height is slightly high at the 22 fret for the bridge saddles being as low as possible and the neck being set correctly. So a neck shim put in by a good Luther will fix this problem. If you like your action a little higher at the 22 fret this will play beautifully for you. This is a really nice guitar and a amazing deal for the cost even if you need to have it set up correctly. I'm sure Sweetwater can help you out. Wishing everyone a blessed New Year!

Outstanding.

I bought this guitar seeking the chime and it has that. Bought a great SKB case at the same time. The instrument arrived and it has a very solid 50's and 60's vibe. The sound, plugged in or not, is just a bunch of fun. The ringing fullness is worth every penny. This guitar provides a lot of great sound. It is a light guitar with a tad neck dive - it has a lot of hardware up top, read more so I suggest a wide strap to spread the hold. Will strongly consider a 59DC six string Danelectro, as well. Always Great dependable Sweetwater service.

This guitar is truly great. I cant believe it is priced as low as it is. Fantastic tone. Great "jangle". It is incredibly easy to play. Intonation is spot on. Stays in tune for 'days'. The finish has a subtle sparkle behind the rich candy-apple red that is stunning to say the least. I cant stop playing it. My Strat and SG are a bit jealous. And as always, my rep Shelby and Sweetwater read more deliver fantastic unmatched customer service.

Danelectro Vintage 12 String a whole world of possibilities

Danelectro Vintage 12 String is an amazing electric guitar, very easy to play comparing with another 12 strings guitars, with a whole world of possibilities since its classic 60's jangle sound in the bridge pickup ( Beatles, Hollies, ...) or its beautiful acoustic clean sound using neck pickup where open chords sounds great, you can create a lot of different textures, amazing intros read more or use it on latin music simulating a "Tres Cubano", this guitar is my new secret weapon on music production.

Amazing old-school jangle!

First let me say, this is a truly beautiful instrument. Even the professional photos that Sweetwater sent me before shipping the guitar don't do it justice. The red metallic finish is stunning. It's very well constructed and finished, and the fingerboard has a distinctive grain stripe going down its length that I think is pretty cool. As a "mature" but relatively new player, I read more was a little intimidated with the idea of playing a 12-string, but it's just as easy to play (more so in some ways) than my other guitars (an Ibanez Artcore and inexpensive 6-string acoustic). I'm still experimenting with the sound, but it's got the awesome jangly sound you'd expect and is a joy to play. Well worth the wait for it to come in. Special thanks to CJ Antol for his support, advice, and updates!

This guitar is excellent. It sounds great and plays easy right out of the box. The first time I played it with the band they all raved about the sound. This was a good choice and I will probably add some more Danelectro's to my collection.

Affordable 12 String Jangle

Danelectro has always been an interesting brand dating back to the '60's. It gradually faded away over theyears but has been somewhat reborn with new ownership and a commitment to newer, better quality manufacturing standards. I was looking for an electric 12 string to add to my arsenal but I did not want to pay the $$$$ for the Rickenbacker! (when you have to email for a price read more you probably can't afford it!) This Vintage Danelectro 12 gives me all of the jangle I need in a simple, easy to use package. The action is great and the scale length is perfect...No 12 String Neck Dive here! It is light weight and the hollow body gives it that airyacoustic feel. At the price... it is a real bargain. Working with Daniel and the team at Sweetwater is a pure joy...The 55 point inspection and the set-up of the guitar was spot on.
