Using with Mainstage

James Palmer

I am using this with apple Mainstage to control expression on two keyboards during live performance. Maps right up to my midi assignments. Works great. The bluetooth syncs right away every time. It has a solid feel. Prior to using this pedal, I've used the Korg and On-Stage pedals and they felt a little flimsy compared to this boss ev1. The tension/feel on the boss is a little more read more stiff than the other pedals, and I like that. If you want it to have a looser or tighter feeling, there is an allen bolt at the axle which allows for tension adjustments. I'm happy with mine the way it came from the factory. I suspect after a few years of use then it may need an adjustment. It's normal function is sending on midi cc11. If you stomp on it, a white light comes on to let you know you've switched the pedal to midi cc1. Now you can assign another parameter....I'm thinking of using it for wah and freq res filters. If you need to alter the cc#s, there is an app you can download to change them. I downloaded it from the app store and it connected right away. I have no need to change the factory cc settings so I left as is. You can power with a transformer or use 2 AA batteries. I left it on to see how long a set of batteries would last and they went 4 days til the pedal died. (duracell coppertops in case you're wondering)Why not 5 stars? It's about the bluetooth. It does not remember the device and auto sync. One of the reasons I bought this pedal was to increase my setup and tear down time at gigs by eliminating a cable. Everytime you turn the pedal off, it will need to be re-synced the next time you turn it on. If I turned the pedal on and it auto-synced to my laptop, it would get 5 stars.

Best pedal for controlling Neural DSP plugins!!

I got this a few days ago because I got tired of manually automating the whammy effect in Archetype Gojira and wanted to record the effect in real time to speed up my workflow. It took a bit of time to setup and figure out but once I did it was smooth sailing! The latency is almost nonexistent and the pedal is incredibly responsive. If you're looking for a way to control these parameters read more or any expression parameters in your DAW, this is definitely the pedal to do it.

Doesn't work on Windows

The Bluetooth wireless doesn't work at all on a Windows computer - the official response from Roland is "Unfortunately, for most all WINDOWS 10/11 computers you'll need to use an additional, sold separately: WM-1D" Pretty disappointing.

New Life For Katana Air

READ THE SETUP MANUAL STEP BY STEP!!! Avoid any headaches and disappointments! FIRST, make sure the Katana-Air firmware is up-to-date! Follow the bluetooth connects setup - 1a, 1b, then 2!!! In the Katana-Air BTS app, select and setup "Pedal Wah", under the FX list. REMEMBER to SAVE each patch used! You can move it around later. After that, you're good to GO! The Volume/Wah read more pedal works GREAT! Adding the FS-6 gives you handsfree patch switching, AWESOME!!! I feel like I'm playing with a new amp, with new flexibility. I'm in love again. ...but I might not invite you to the wedding. LOL

I hate tripping over cords at home and when performing. Now I can change patches, Use it as a wah pedal and more without wires. I've been waiting to use this with my Katana Air for a Complete Bluetooth Rig
