Formula 5F6 Tweed Bassman-style Overdrive Pedal Review

Astonishingly Great!!

This pedal will never come off my board! It's amazing. I have it at the end of the overdrive chain with the Wampler's Belle in front. I have found my sound thanks to Catalinbread. The only change I wish they make to the pedal is Secret Lead Mode. An amazing feature but they hide it inside. An external switch would be great. There is only two options… send it off to have it modified… read more or buy another pedal :-( I almost took a star away because of this issue. But, it sounds too good!!

A Tweed Delight

I need to praise this pedal because it is a versatile delight. I purchased this last year from Sweetwater and the more I compare it to other over-drives this is special. From sparkling cleans to roaring leads this pedals 3 band eq and inner presence, super lead & super bass is killer. Also, this pedal enhances Vox's, since Vox isn't a pedal friendly amp.

I want a second one

I used to play through a Bassman head and cabinet. Within moments I had a tone dialed in with sparkling highs and a rich, persuasive bass... I tried this at the shop with a bunch of Fender amps, and it was great. At home through my Blackstar HT5, it was transformational. Highly recommended. It lives up to its billing as a foundational tone pedal. I do have it driving a fuzz/distortion as well, but I mostly load OD, delay, even light echo, and fuzz into this pedal and it sound great.Why do I want a second one? Open the case, flip a dip switch, and you get a high gain version that sounds fantastic as well. Just do it... expand your tone, get one.

Incredible

Now and then you get a piece of gear, plug it in, and on the first note, you just know it's a bullseye. This is one of those. It's big, it's chimey, it's jangly, it's awesome. This will definitely be my always-on tone. Never owned my own Bassman, but have played through other people's. Love that I can feed this into almost any amp and get there.

BASSMAN TONE and MORE

I have to say, If you are looking for the Fender Bassman tone and don't have a lot of cash to throw down on the amp, This is the way to go. I have had it for three days now and have experimented with multiple settings. The stock Basmman mode provides the ringing cleans and with the gain cranked it reaches the low to mid gain crunch just like the original. The Secret Lead Mode is… read more like playing through a modded Bassman with hot tubes in it. It really sings with the gain up past noon, but still cleans up well with the volume knob. Catlinbread has done a great job designing this pedal. i will be purchasing more of their products from Sweetwater. Derek Senestraro my Sales Engineer did a great job helping me select this pedal finding the tweed tone I was looking for in my head.
