KOT killer

Scott

My buddy is putting his KOT on Reverb after hearing my Golden Boy and trying it out. This is hands down the best OD pedal I've ever used. Got it on the recommendation of Sweetwater (guitar guy) rep. I haven't even begun to suss out the best settings for all the different modes but so far, I've got a solid magenta setup that I'm in love with. Boost circuit pretty much doubles the read more modes by bringing dirt into the mix on demand. Saturated cleans, crunchy brit tones, filthy blues, this beast pretty much does it all. Haven't tried metal but wouldn't underestimate this baby with the right amp bc headroom is its middle name. Pricey? It's crazy money for a pedal until you realize it's given you the tone you've been shooting for for years. Then it's worth it. My buddy waited literally MONTHS (maybe over a year?) for his KOT and now he's dumping it. Bright lights for ppl who gig, too!

Worth the scratch

I have owned this pedal for a year now and it's still consistently my favorite go-to (which is saying something because my pedalboard rarely stays static for long). The Golden Boy was clearly designed as the "be all end all" overdrive that has you covered from the beautiful tones, no matter which way you tweak, to the 3 band EQ. I like the range of options, all responsive to your read more playing style, and the ability to ramp up the gain settings with your foot. You can play around with the different OD pedal recreations contained here, and the different boosts, or just dial in the sound you're after and go for it (it's amber drive + blue boost as needed for me all the way). It's a joy to play. Like some others, I found it a bit harsh or shrill out of the box, but you can easily adjust the internal trim pots for presence and tone and then it sounds like a dream. I love the clarity and articulation on lower gain settings, and how much spit and growl you can get out of this pedal when you dig in. I've been playing guitar for nearly 30 years, and I've enjoyed many pedals along the way. This is the first time I've ever taken the time to leave a review. Don't overthink it - pick up a Golden Boy and see for yourself.

Versatile and great sounding overdrive

I've had a Ts9dx and this pedal has more clarity and richness. I've also had the plumes which had that clarity but I could only really found one use for it. So I was very excited to get clarity, richness, and versatility all in one very well made pedal (as far as I can tell). The overdrive side is truly inspiring for anything from light breakup to heavy crunch. I find the magenta read more (KOT) setting to be totally killer just fun to play. Then the boost side is fantastic as well. I don't know how to say it other than there's a high fidelity vibe that it gives the tone. Using the boost and the overdrive side together you get beautiful sustain and rich harmonics. It was expensive but I feel that it fulfilled all of my expectations.

Amazing

While I am kinda limited in using it with my tube amps, by only having my katana mini as an amp I can still say it sounds great. After retiring last may we decided to hit the road anyway and ended up in Oak Harbor WA on Whidbey Island as a place to disconnect from what we knew and reconnect as a couple. I saw a review on this and as a pedal addict I had to get it. I am looking read more forward to get a XSonic airstep to allow easy switching and using it's capabilities. I am completely satisfied and look forward to hooking up to my JCM800.

Flexibility at your feet

It took a little practice to get the 2 switch tap down for the gain stages, but once I did, this pedal proved to be incredibly easy to use. The overdrives sound and feel natural.
