I have had fun for hours playing with this thing. So many tones and options. The options and possibilities seem to be endless. The acoustics and piano sounds are what made me want this and I am very happy. I originally ordered the Boss GP-10 but had an issue with the pickup cutting out and was a little let down with the synth sounds (piano mostly) but Sweetwater took care of read more me right away and I took the opportunity to upgrade to the GR-55 and I am glad that I did. I wish the editor was more like the GP-10 but other than that I am very happy.

With a GR55 and a Godin SA guitar you are ready for everything. Easily tweak the presets with quick edit or make your own sounds from a massive collection of instruments. Alternate tuning, transposition, and more. You can program up to four sounds per string, 2 synths, one modeled guitar, and the guitar's actual pickups.

The Only GTR Synth

This is Roland's Best yet! Sounds, sounds, sounds. You won't run out. I have the GR30 and GR33. Love them both. The GR55 comes closer to what I expect out of a "guitar synthesizer". To have guitar FX and GTR Synth in one unit makes a whole lot of sense. Everything has a learning curve: computers, gtr synths, your girlfriend, her mom. Her Dad! Roland's curve is intuitive and relatively read more easy once you get the hang of it. Its important to have the pickup attached firmly and correctly. Then take some extra time in fine tuning the sensitivity of each string and it will be glitch free. It won't be running off at the mouth because you brought her home late. Synthesizer/Keyboards/bass sounds are not made for guitar amps. Midrange, you know. Everything else is high and low that gtr amps can't handle. A keyboard amp or Roland's JC120 will do just nice. I know from experience that the Sweetwater gang can help you all with that. Now, go play something!

I was to rate the GR-55 in this review, but I would rather rate Sweetwater itself and in particular, my sales engineer, Cliff. I have purchased a fair amount of equipment recently and have been more than pleased with every item as expected. Sweetwater sells top quality gear, but we already knew that. My latest purchase was a synthesizer, case and a few gig bags. Just a regular read more order, no problem. Well, the problem is, I live in Houston and we have a very unwelcome visitor, Harvey. I am on OTR truck driver and am on the road most of the time. I was scheduled to be back in Houston so I could pick up my new gear, but my company sent me back to Canada to get away from the flooding. I live with my son when I am in town, but our home was one of the many thousands that was completely underwater. He had to be evacuated by boat to safety. We don't really know when we can even return home. I initially called Cliff to discuss what would happen to my order since no one could even reach our house. He did some research and asked if there was another address my order could be rerouted to. The only place I knew my equipment would be safe until I got there was our home office in Canada. He checked with his boss and they decided in light of the situation in Houston, they would ship it there! I am ecstatic to say the least. I have had nothing but great help and advice from Cliff since I have begun dealing with Sweetwater. He bends over backwards to accommodate his customers. Back to the review, the gear is great, but I just wanted to share this with you. This is exactly the reason I will continue to do business with Sweetwater! Thank you Cliff and everyone at Sweetwater Micheal Conlin
