Great Pedal
This has to be the best value pedal on the market. Great tones and easy to use. (even for an old guy) There are several videos already out on YouTube. I want to keep this short, so I can get back to playing with my new GX-100!
Unbelievable versatility, easy to use and unmatched realistic sound quality!
I've been playing guitar since 1980 and I've owned about 4 or 5 different multi-effect pedals over the past 10 years or so and this one is hands down the BEST I've ever owned or tried. I replaced a POD GO with this pedal and I'd never go back. I can't afford a $1500+ multi pedal so this one is priced very nicely. The touch screen changes everything by making it so much easier… read more to modify or create presets on the fly. The versatility of being able to assign and use just about any switch for almost anything is great! Pair this with a 2 button momentary foot switch (with Normally closed switches) and you will have too many footswitches to keep track of! I haven't used any of my own IR's yet and don't really need to. The built in amps and speakers that use Boss' AIRD technology sound remarkably real!!!!! I use this for playing on a very large church worship team and it cuts through very well. I also use it at home for practice and direct recording into my MacBook through Garageband or Logic. The interface works and sounds much better through this than it did through my POD GO. Also, even though Boss sells a Bluetooth adapter for playing audio through the pedal or connecting to the app on your phone or tablet, I don't use that and don't need it. Connecting the GX-100 to my computer via USB lets me use it as a digital interface and for listening to external audio through my phone or tablet. Just plug your phone or tablet into the back of the pedal and adjust your computer's settings to hear audio output from GX-100. This thing is unbelievably great! The only upgrade I'd suggest to Boss is to make the graphics of all the effects and amps more user friendly. Maybe they could be made to look like amps, effect pedals, etc.
Great for studio or stage!
Great for studio or stage! I was building a pedal board with 6 different pedals but of course wanted more...so after watchng a video on the Boss Gt-1000, I was thinking maybe I should go that route instead. Then along comes the GX-100. For the price of a few pedals you get more than you know what to do with. I am blown away! It's like having a hundred pedals or more! The effects… read more are high quality and you can edit easily as well. But, the best part (in my opinion) are the amp sims. Boss calls it AIRD which refers to IR (impulse responses). So, I have 3 different tube amps (Laney.Vox,Carvin), and never expected these to be replaced by a multi pedal board. All i know is the amps are getting a bit dusty already... In my tiny recording studio I've tried direct recording with awesome results but I've found plugging into a clean amp through a 2x12 with a 57 and 609 sounds absolutley killer! That's all I got. Time to go play guitar :)
Great solid product..but
This is a great product with huge potential! Very solid construction, the boss apps is great…really everything works so well. Forget the great price, it's really a top notch unit that deserves all the high marks. The presets actually irritates me. They take the fire out of owning it. I'm the type that wants to plug my guitar in and jam with great sounds. Boss really needs to get… read more it together regarding presets..but a lot of other companies do also. You may not agree with me …..okay, that's your prerogative. I think the presets are terrible and not usable without constant tweaks. One simple example, the volume levels between presets are all over the spectrum, try setting your daw input and expect the same volume level after switching to another preset. Irritating. Don't misunderstand me, I'm keeping the unit, but I have hopes the boss community will get new presets developed. I admit, I couldn't create a good preset if I tried for years. I'm too lazy. I don't have a clue. But, I can tell you what stinks sound wise and what doesn't. A good solid unit with impressive construction and features and support. They just drop the ball every time imho regarding the presets.
Absolutely Amazing...
I've only had this for about 9 days, but it does everything I need it to do. I have already spent many, many hours with it. All the effects are there, they sound amazing, easy to learn and use, and a lot of fun to play! The touchscreen is very responsive and easy to use, and makes editing a patch a breeze. I added the Bluetooth adapter (highly recommend) and can edit all the presets… read more from my Android phone or tablet. That was also a huge selling point, the app is not just for iOS! The factory presets are very impressive, and very usable. I have only just begun to explore everything this can do, but I'm completely happy with everything so far. Thanks again to Austin, who let me know the day it arrived in the warehouse, and it was at my door the next day!
