Great Pedal

I had the VH4-2 pedal a couple of years ago and I sold it (times were tough haha), and recently picked up this pedal. It sounds awesome. It's similar in sound to the VH-4 but different. It's thick and hi gain/heavy distortion when needed, but you can dial it back for a great rock sound too. Tried into the front end of an amp, and the sound was ok. If you're going to use it, I would read more advise going through an effects loop on a tube amp, or going through an IR pedal to PA. Going to pick up the single channel VH-4 for my rhythm channel, and use this for my lead channel with a Cab m playing live. Not quite a 5k Diezel amp and cab, but the audience will never know, and it's lighter on my back. Buy it! I mean it's a Diezel in a pedal, how could you not like it?

Amazing tone!!

I’m always skeptical when it comes to preamp style pedals. Usually they fall short in some form or fashion. So I decided to take the plunge for this amazing Diezel Herbert pedal. Wow! Just absolutely blown away by this unit! I’m running a Marshall JVM205C and a Helix stomp. I like simplicity in my setup.. the Diezel has its own 3D like sound. It’s full, it’s aggressive and read more the mid cut function is fantastic! I’ve used it in the front and back of the amps effects loop.. both ways are fantastic and the Herbert has outs for both to compensate for signal out put. If your 50/50 on getting this I would just take the plunge now and go for it! It’s high gain and it’s amazing!

Diezel Herbert Pedal

Oh, Man! This pedal is amazing! I"ve own so many distortion pedals over the years. I love tube amp distortion, but I"m kind of tired to have so many cables to connect. Like in front of amp and FX loop. So I just use one cable to my pedalboard and another to the amp. Less to worry about. Sometimes just a preamp to avoid hauling too much heavy gear. This distortion pedal gives me read more that tube amp distortion I was looking for. Even through a solid state amp I get really close to the sound of a tube amp. A bit pricey but well worth it for me. Check it out.

Monster Amp like Uber Gain

I had the VH4 (2) pedal and it is a fine pedal as well. I think I prefer the Herbert version personally. Massively thick uber gain yet surprisingly articulate and very amp like as Diezel claims of the pedal. While we all know the Diezel VH4 is a killer 100 watt amp head and used by many artists. The Herbert amp is a 180 watt monster that just has such massive wattage via depth and read more headroom it dusts most other amps. These very cool based on the amp pedals Diezel does can get you in the ball park of those tones for a fraction of the bucks. I dig them. I have all three Revv Pedals and the Diezel Herbert pedal and that covers my amp tones using my Fractal FX8 and a few other pedals for effects. But those provide my sense of "amp modeling" but pure analog pedal coolness I just am digging all the versatility and ease of tweaking to get great tones. All these pedals sound great on just about any settings so it's merely a slight tweak to nudge them into perfection. I also like the Herbert "mid cut" boost side, while I am not a fan of gutting my mids I just keep the intensity somewhat low and use the additional master volume for a boost. The circuit adds even more thickness and intensity to the gain structure but is not muddy or washed out. You can really notch out the mids if you like but somehow I think in a band context you would be losing your sonic placement. Anyway, killer pedal, can't see parting w this one. You will get some slight high gain noise hiss at higher settings but a decent noise gate (Sentry) will easily hush that, which is not bad and less than the VH4 pedal I think. Herbert!!!!!

Excellent amp like distortion

Build seems to be great quality. The sound is a step above gain pedals I've heard. This amp in a box type pedal is capable of being an excellent high gain channel if your amp doesn't have a good one. Or it could be used as an affordable way to get a great and famous gain sound without having to buy the $4k amp. I'm sure the amp is better but this is as good as any amp I've heard read more in person except a triple rectifier. There are a lot of knobs to find the right sound for your setup. There is a great low mid grind this pedal has that sounds great with a 7 string. Palm mutes also sounds great very punchy and articulate. Lead tones are great as well. I couldn't ask for more!
