Just as the OCD and the Tumnus, the J. Rockett Audio Designs Hot Rubber Monkey (HRM) Overdrive Pedal doesn't bury and cover over your guitar tone. I bought this because of the Dumble connection. I can't compare it to The Dude or other such Dumble style pedals. It sounds very good and is a satisfying addition to my pedal chain. I like, too, the heavy duty steel case. I"m an overdrive junkie-I probably own a dozen or more. I heard Shawn Tubbs demo this pedal on YouTube and really liked what it did. I called Mac Hatton at Sweetwater and two days later the Hot Rubber Monkey arrived. Easy to dial in, it"s definitely reminiscent of Robben Ford"s tone. I"m running this and a Greer Lightspeed on my board and couldn"t be happier. Thick, round tones… read more with an unbelievably beautiful midrange complexity. If you"re a blues guy you want this pedal! Highly recommended!

What does it sonud like ..... Run the HRM infront of a Fender Amp clean channel & you can nail the Robben Ford Mystic Mile tones also sounds great for Eric Johnson, Joe Bonnamassa or Kenny Wayne Shepherd. I've had many custom Dumble style amps and pedals but this one is the best by far on the Dumble overdrive sound. I don't know that it nails the John Mayer or SRV clean dumble sound… read more quite as well. Long story short it's well worth the money!
