This is an Amazing Tube Preamp Pedal
I was hesitant when I read the review of this unit sounding thin. You have to play with the EQ settings a bit PLUS the Gain on Channel A actually fattens the sound Amazingly without adding any distortion, just pure clean sound! If You want to get the most out of this pedal and get super close to a nice Tube Amp sound...Get the Torpedo CAB M as well. The two together are just great.… read more You can even try it and if you do not like it...well return it. This preamp did the trick for me. I hope this helps you!
The missing link
I love this preamp. Very high quality, the A and B channels seems to be voiced very differently, A is brighter, and B is darker. I'm running 2 different electric guitars through a Fishman Loudbox, and it sounds like a tube amp. When, off, there is no coloration to the amp, but when turned on, there is just a low noise tube saturated tone that I find addicting. I play through it… read more all the time. Of all the countless pedals to choose from, I chose the right one.
Don't Leave Home Without It...
...or go into your home studio without it. If you're doing any kind of DI into your computer with instruments (guitar or synth, for example) you owe it yourself and your listeners to run it through a tube preamp. I like this one because you can get some overdriven tube as well as clean tube. With a Moog synth, this thing will really take your non-effected sound to new sonic realms.… read more With effects, it gets even better.
The Direct Solution For Me
I've been looking for something that can give me a wide range of great clean sounds for use with a pedalboard for direct recording. This is it for sure. The range of sound is so wide, and the tone is so rich. This pedal is responsive, like a great preamp, and the built in speaker cabinet simulation, while simple, is effective. It doesn't have that "dry" sound that so many direct… read more boxes can have. And it interacts with pedals (especially dirt pedals) much better than any other solution I've tried. You've got to be patient and thoughtful and actually read the manual, particularly about how the Fusion knob works. It interacts with different guitars and pedals, and it can be dialed in with just about anything. If you set everything at noon and draw a conclusion, you'll get it wrong.
Very Pleased with Le Clean
For what it is worth, I am an amateur guitar player in a trio - singer with amplified acoustic, drums, and me. I play electric guitar behind the singer - clean with a few effects like reverb, delay, chorus, compressor, etc. Since we have been playing small venues and don't like lugging amps around, I play directly from my pedal board into our mixer and then on to our Bose floor… read more mounted PA system with vertical speakers. I have several vintage amps and cannot get the sound I like out of our gig system. It sounds muted, not clear, muddy, etc. Chris suggested I try the Le Clean and we rehearsed this week with and without the Le Clean. The Le Clean is the answer for me. It sounds terrific for what we do. It is full spectrum sound and it is as if I were playing through my 59 Gibson GA 77. There may be other preamps out there that are as good or better but this is the one I will use. It has given us a much better sound and re-energized the group. Well done and thanks, Chris.
