Sounds like the preamp of a JCM 800
This unit sounds very similar to an 80s JCM-800. The internal speaker simulator is very usable and with it, you can achieve a good clean and edge of breakup sound. With the gain of the dirty channel in the higher positions the sound was a bit fizzy, but again not unlike the preamp gain in an 80s Marshall. I swapped the original tube out with a JJ 12ax7 Gold pin high gain with balanced… read more triodes. Being a warmer tube than the Ruby 12ax7 it came with calmed down the fizzy sound a good bit. The QC sticker on the unit was dated 2016 and I purchased this as an open box so the Ruby tube that was in it may have been well used. Coupled with the Two Notes Cab M this unit is nothing short of amazing. The speaker and amp simulation in Two Notes cab M is much more versatile than the internal simulation in the LeCrunch. This is a very good amp in a box solution.
Highly Recommended For Amp Overdrive
This thing is perfect if you play through an amp that doesn't have distortion/overdrive (or whose distortion/overdrive isn't your thing). I have a Fender Excelsior and a Roland JC-40, and I wanted to add a good tube preamp stage (especially for the Excelsior). This fits the bill perfectly, has a wide range of tones, and makes for a killer all-tube combo which sounds particularly… read more nice with the Excelsior's 15" speaker. For the combined price of this and a used Excelsior, you're in amp heaven. After thirty years of searching, I've found my tone. Thanks Two Notes!
Finally, what I've always wanted!
Someone finally made what I've always wanted! I play almost exclusively at church, so volume control is extremely important when choosing gear. Although there are many good amp modeling options on the market, I typically found myself overwhelmed at the controls. Basically, I don't want the to have 100 custom presets, but rather the analog, tactile feel of a combo amp in pedal form.… read more With that said, I am not disappointed with my decision to give this pedal a try. Right out of the box, I found the controls as intuitive as an old combo amp. I was able to quickly dial in the tone I wanted. If anyone is curious, I run an Electro Harmonix Holy Grail Neo reverb pedal in the Le Crunch's effects loop feature. I also utilize the speaker simulator function and XLR output to send my sound straight into the mixer. I chose the Le Crunch over the Le Clean and Le Lead simply because I historically prefer the British amp sound. I have owned both Vox and Marshall amps and have always been drawn to their tones.
Two Notes LeCrunch
I purchased this pedal to add to the LeClean and Torpedo Cab. I connect them with midi cables and wala...I have not only a 6 channel amp, but 6 amps and 6 different cabinets at the push of a button. Since I already had all my effects I couldn't see spending the extra $1000 for the other top name direct to PA devices. I'm so glad I went this way. It's just what I wanted. Great tone… read more and I still have control on the fly.
Le Crunch
This device is awesome. By far the best in its class. I play mainly jazz fusion music and am always frustrated with the majority of (solid state) distortion pedals out there. I almost always play thru PA systems as apposed to guitar amps. I actually prefer that these days because I play acoustic guitar as well. With PA system amplification, I can have transparent amplification… read more when I want it (acoustic guitar) and an AMP coloration sound (electric guitar) when I want that. By doing the switching at my multi-effects platform, I get the best of both worlds. So I wire this Le Crunch within the effects loop of my Line6 Helix. The sound is EXACTLY what I demand. I get that tube saturation that solid state cant possibly deliver. and then the dual channel aspect is a cut above the normal distortion pedal too. I can toggle between levels of distortion intensity ... I can't be any more happier with this device!!
