They Know the Meaning of the Word Plethora
I've barely scratched the surface, but so far I love this pedalboard with guitar or bass. Not sure how it would work on a gig, but at home it's second in awesomeness only to Lindsey Becker, Sweetwater's all-time greatest Sales Engineer.
Simple and powerful Plethora X5
I decided to have a hybrid pedalboard setup, looked at: line6 and boss, but did not like the complexities and way toooo much suff for my taste which I hate to say, some of it are unusable, IMO. So I decided to purchase this gear for my hybrid pedalboard setup. The selection of pedals on this unit are amazing especially now they added ALTER EGO VINTAGE ECHO pedal. TC elctronics listens… read more to consumers and that is a good thing, this board is well thought of (kudos to their R&D for creating this product). Yeah there are no dirt pedals included but IMO that is a good thing, coz there's a lot OD/Dist pedals which we prefer to use and I beleive we are all in agreeement with that. If you want a more time to playing your guitar, creatong songs, exploring sounds, a simple interface, easy to navigate unit, bluetooth capability to your phone or tablet and no pc needed, then grab this unit. But if you want to waste your time tweaking on a unit and waste an hour or more just to get the sound you want and not even playing 2-3 songs you like, then this is not for you. Quote: Less is More (that might help you decide). And you will not regret buying this product, it has a lot of potential. Thanks to David Winkert for his help on this purchase, a very accomodating and a lot of patience in answering my queries about every product I purchase from SW. I recommend his expertise if you want to buy a gear :)
Perfect Addition
I have a pedalboard for band gigs and one for solo gigs and the modulation and delay pedals are always being pried off one and stuck to the other. My trusty old EVH Phase 90 recently bit the dust and I was about to buy another when this went on sale. My solo board now has a vibe and two delays full time and the band board received a major upgrade! I love that I can route my OD's… read more anywhere in the chain and assign a foot switch to add or removes them from the chain. I think this will be a keeper but that depends on how it holds up to my big fat feet. The foot switches are a little too close for comfort, but with some practice I don't think they will pose any problems. Charlie was great clearing up an order snafu and getting this thing shipped out ASAP just in time for a gig. The unit preformed well, had no issues and it sounded great, even the drummer noticed!
Great tones, if you're persistent
I've been using TC gear for a long time now. I had a Nova System, a G-System, and 6 tone print pedals over the years. So from the standpoint of having 5 pedals on at once this device is incredible. Especially the Corona Chorus which is a work of art all by itself. My issues have been surrounding 'feature discovery'. As others have noted there is no manual whatsoever. I can understand… read more there not being a need for instruction for the pedals themselves as those are well covered by manuals, but unless you're willing to seek out random videos online there's nothing definitive to refer to. That being said, I still love it and have been able to get it to do everything I want it to. This is replacing my Strymon Timeline and Mobius. The only thing I miss in the rotary tone from the Mobius. All the rest is more than taken care of.
Gave me a reason to dump half of my pedalboard.
Sold a bunch of separates and bought this beast. Was it worth it? So far so good. Love the sleek design. Built-in tuner is a good touch, if not a little finicky, and the only reason it didn't get a full 5 stars. The pedal selection and tones are top-notch. Love that it stores tone-prints which was always my big beef about some of the separates. Very intuitive to set-up and store… read more new boards. Lets you test each of the presets as you pass over them in edit mode saving a lot of time. You can also program individual pedals with the other four active or inactive to gauge the finished sound. TC has said that new pedals are in the works and will be added to the Plethora's line-up as they become available. If you want to buy just one pedal or just want to add more variety to your existing pedalboard then this is a no-brainer.
