Power Pack Clean Boost Pedal Review

I needed a battery powered signal boost for my doubleneck acoustic guitar. Getting some signal loss when using an EBow, which is quite loud acoustically, but as others pointed out to me comes out of the PA a bit weak. I do notice the tonal difference between using the Powerpack vs creating a boost in gains of certain effects like compressors or equalizers. I've not yet experimented much with my electric guitars/Basses/Chapman Sticks yet. At low settings this can bring out a nice natural tone similar to slight compression without the "squash". Also a nice addition to an HX Stomp as you free up another block if you created one just for boosting your signal. This pedal is a lot less noisy and brings out the tone a lot nicer.

Oh YES!

Makes all of my guitars deliver their true sonic bliss through all of my valve amps at any volume level. I use this pedal as an always on whether I'm looking for crystal clean tones or to slam the front end the amp for dirt that is pure. Analog Alien makes fantastic pedals, I also give a huge thumbs up to the Alien Twister. Absolutely my favorite fuzz pedal of all time.

WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?

I'm pretty sure I've played every single boost ever made in my past 33 years of guitar playing; and the Analog Alien Power Pack is my hands-down favorite of all time. Don't dare think for a second that this is "just another boost pedal," because that's what I thought. And then...I plugged it in. Every single tone, clean or dirty, with any of my guitars through any of my amps (especially… read more tube amps) have been elevated way beyond anything I could imagine. I have some incredible amps that I THOUGHT sounded amazing until I got the Power Pack. Just imagine the entire frequency range of your guitar tone being released wide open while being soaked in total analog bliss. It's like a massive amount of "headroom" added to your tone. It's impossible to describe, and more impossible to live without. Do you want a real treat? Use it as a front-end boost to the other overdrive pedals you already own to hear them like you've NEVER heard them before! I have four different overdrive pedals on my board that go through mild to medium to heavy distortion. The Power Pack is in the very FIRST position to give any of those overdrives a small to heavy push. You won't believe what comes out of your amp. You won't want to velcro this thing to your pedalboard; you'll want to weld it on!
