Definitely a Great Pedal!

I bought the RD Compact Hot Rod because my bandmate had one on his board and I REALLY liked the tone and feel (He let me try it out). I was a little hesitant about dropping this much $$ on a drive pedal but it's definitley a keeper. Took me a while to get the hang of the controls; they seem very interactive and there are a bunch of combinations and options to dial in. Very high read more quality and heavy duty construction. I have not yet used it in preamp mode, but the others have been great for my live rigs. Bottom line: It's an investment but a good one!

The perfect Hot Rodded Marshall in a box!

I've owned every marshall in a box on the market. Even the other super high end ones like pedalpalfx jcm800, aura brown sugar etc. This smokes them all by miles. It can get plexi, jcm800, silver jubilee and just about every marshall tone under the sun. It's extremely flexible, built like a tank and the eq and options of how to run it are fantastic. Its great into a clean channel, read more but PERFECT as a preamp. As good my marshall dsl20hr in tone and feel. This is the ultimate solution for tube amp purists like me that don't want to lug heavy tube amps to practice or gigs. It's pricey, but worth every penny! Just buy it!!!

The pedal works great!

I purchase a lot of OD pedals. I wanted to try the RevivalDRIVE hot rod and it sounds amazing! It has a thick sound that can go from plexi to modern. I have sold all my other OD pedals and the Revival has earned it place on my Trailer-Trash pedal board! Thanks to Sweetwater and Dennis Konicki for all their help and knowledge over the last 20+ years!

Quite possibly the best overdrive/distortion on the market.

I am a bit of an overdrive/distortion junkie (aren't all guitarists!?). I currently own a moderate-size collection of overdrives at price points all over the spectrum. In the Revival Drive Hotrod compact case, the adage "You get what you pay for!" is unanimously true. The quality of the drive sound is harmonically rich with depth comparable to the most refined tube preamps. It's read more beneficial to read the instruction booklet to get the most out of each of the controls' individual responses. Although each control affects the noted frequency, they do so in a very unique way—the high knob affects highs and mids. When turned counterclockwise, it lands you in the modded 1970's Marshall territory. At noon, it's a very accurate hard-driven Plexi. As you move clockwise, you end up in the modded Fender tone zone (think Dimed and tuned Bassman). The low knob certainly affects the low-end response, but it focuses the tone and gets tighter as you turn it counterclockwise. When clockwise, it gets thicker and more round. The presence control acts like a traditional control from noon and up; however, as you move counterclockwise from noon, it creates an earlier breakup. The post-drive EQ is convenient to prime the unit for different types of amps. I have even utilized the unit as a standalone, going directly into speaker IR's with fantastic results. Lastly, the blend knob is an exciting addition. I have created interesting sounds by using clean added to the mix or adding another overdrive to the front end of the Revival and allowing that overdriven sound to blend with the pedals drive. In summary, you will not regret purchasing this pedal! You might need to take a few moments to work out the nuances of the controls, but the reward for doing so is tone nirvana.
