This is “the” pedal!
When it's time to sound like Tony Iommi, this is him in a small box. They reproduced him perfectly.
Pedal was everything i hoped it would be
Ive never felt compelled to write a review before, and ive probably owned about 50 different guitar pedals. I watched reviews of this pedal on youtube and was really not impressed, and i watched quite a few. But at the end of the day, I am a huge Black Sabbath fan so i decided to just buy it anyways, so i can try it myself and sell it if i dont like it. my immediate reaction to… read more plugging my guitar in was "holy crap thats loud, and sounded very treble-y", and that doesnt really fit my playing much (psychedelic/ classic rock player) i tried everything and couldnt get my sound. So I started playing with my pickup settings, volume on the guitar, and tone knob (2021 american tele pro 2) and that was when i fell in love. for my playing, this pedal is perfect when i turn the tone all the way down, roll back the volume knob just alittle, and i usually play it with both pickups singing, and for leads ill maybe swap to the bridge pickup. i did find that the tone is a little lackluster when using my neck pickup, but playing around with the tone knob youll still be able to find a sweet spot. for me this has become a "set it and forget it" type pedal, I really like it at at about 55% presense, 55% tone, 25% volume (it goes insanely loud) and usually i have the rangemaster set around 65%, sometimes ill adjust that, but not too often. It seems to respond so much better to the guitars controls that it absolutely seems to be the best way to use this pedal. Also, it definitely seems to sound its best when its the only pedal on. i have other OD's, Fuzz, Muffs, and it didnt seem to play nice with them. sounds amazing with my morley double wah, my phasers, flangers, reverb. i even use a bassballs bass envelope filter with it on my guitar for some realllly cool effects. This is an amazing pedal that doesnt really seem to get much love, and the people in the video reviews are only really showing what the pedal can do, not how to make it sound good. if you are in a situation like i was where you are on the fence, do it. you wont regret it.
That Classic Iommi Sound
I bought this pedal as I wanted that icon Tony Iommi sound at bedroom volumes, and it delivers on all fronts. It's not the most versatile pedal you'll ever own, but let's be honest that is not what you want from this. The Range knob really unlocks some fun - it mimics the treble boost that Tony Iommi used in his rig. All in all, couldn't be happier with it. I went with the standard… read more edition so I could read the labels on the knobs, but I must say the artwork on the clearwell edition is quite fetching.
Classic Metal Tones
I love how perfectly this pedal nails Sabbath tones but it can get some pretty great heavy tones reminiscent of Entombed's Left Hand Path.
