I've owned the 6 string version for almost 10 years

As of this writing (early 2019) it doesn't look like Sweetwater currently lists the six string version of this bass anymore, so I don't know if this will be posted or not, but I can't recommend this line of basses enough. The feel, the tone, the look (even with some typical wear-and-tear from gigging) the finish (neck and body) of this bass is by far the best I've ever owned. read more I've played many basses since getting this one, but I've never found one that came close. I haven't gigged professionally in a long time, but recently started getting back into playing. I say this because this Bass was left in its case since around 2012, and when I finally did pull it out of its case in 2018 to play it rather than confirm that it was unharmed by various moves to a part of the country with a radically different average humidity -- it was still in tune. So I don't see a need to change the tuners. My only complaint regarding playability (aside from my neglect in taking care of the finish on the knobs and bridge -- which have oxidized slightly, but not NEARLY as much as it should have in almost ten years) is that it is neck heavy. So it tends to dive a bit without a counterweight or the "strap tied to the belt" trick. Again this is for the 6 string version, so I can't vouch for the four or five strings. The six string has two active EMG pickups, each powered by their own 9v, and share the equalization set by the on-board preamp. The volume controls allow for amazing blending, but I've almost always played with both pickups dimed and minimal EQ adjustment. Regardless of whether you play a 4, 5, or 6 string, if you're looking for an amazing instrument that you will never part with, buy this one. I'd buy another if they released a fanned fret version of the 6 string. Otherwise, both as a former semi-professional gigging musician and now as an enthusiast. I can honestly say I will never *need* another bass, and have had no bass-guitar GAS since owning this one.

Just Awesome

This bass is top notch. I have been playing since I was 8. I have had Fenders, Warwicks, and Ibanez and the tonality is just awesome with the active pickups not to mention it arrived and it was still fully in tune and compared to other basses I have had it stays perfectly in tune (No hertz off). The only thing that I have changed is the strings but that's a personal preference read more as I play flatwounds. Definitely worth the investment and I have already recommended several friends.

By Far the Best Bass for the Money!!

I had a $1500 budget.I played everything out there. With it's thru-neck construction, you can makethis Bass sound like an Alembic; but you don't have to take out a 2nd mortgage on your home to buy it.It's a beautiful bass; but for $ ...You Can't Beat It!!

Amazing bass!

I got the 6 string version of this bass (special order) and it is awesome!!! First of all, customer service is always on point here at Sweetwater. Tomir is always super helpful, this order was no different. He had my back every step of the way through the special order, and made it a breeze!!So I’ve had the bass for about 10 months now, and my only complaint is that it’s heavy. read more Not too bad, but it does start to wear you down in those hr+ jam sessions. Obviously I knew what I was getting into though, buying a 6 string. So I won’t knock it because of that. I did try this 5 string out before I bought the 6, and the 5 is notably lighter.Weight aside, the bass is incredible! Playability was on point right out of the box, and still is to this day! Tone is phenomenal as well! The emg pups and active eq leave you with all kinds of tonal options, and she sounds smooth all across the board! The low B is nice and tight, and doesn’t sound floppy like some other 5 strings I’ve used. And she looks gorgeous!! I seriously pick this bass up almost every day just because of how beautiful it is. These pictures, I think, are a little misleading. But she is that visually appealing that I’ll pick her up so often solely off of aesthetics. In short, for what it cost me, I feel like I got a h*** of a deal. I’ve picked up a few custom 6 stings with much bigger price tags, this one is still my favorite!

I'm in love

The first thing I have to say is that this bass played perfectly right out of the box, I didn't need to adjust a thing (so A+ to Sweetwater). As soon as I picked it up, it took me hours to put down! The 5th string, even in heavier styles, has tons of clarity/punch and the neck through design really lets notes ring out. Not to mention that the finish is absolutely stunning!! Moving read more up and down the fretboard couldn't be more of a breeze. For the price, I think this is one of the best basses that you could own
