I put this in front of my Hybrid amp, which has a 2x 12AX7 preamp........ wow, what a difference. Amp was fine before this pedal, but it's almost like I got a new amp instead.....

I purchased this peddle as a direct replacement of my over 30 year old Boss Super OD, which had seen better days. Wear and tear took it's toll on ol'yellor. Out of all the OD peddles I have now, or have watch videos of, the Boss SOD is just the right tool for the job - hands down. 34 years ago I approached a young guitarist, Damen Johnson, in a B 'ham Alabama night club between… read more sets, to ask him how he got his tone. He simple told me the Marshall head and the Boss SOD. He was onto something. So I went the next day to purchase both items! I recommend this one peddle for any guitar player's arsenal.

The Boss Super OverDrive gives pretty good crunch but I wouldn't say it gives much variation. Not bad for the price.
