Great sound, great value!

I ordered this bass mainly as a backup for my main Warwick 5 string, since I only had one 5 string and I wanted a little insurance in case something went wrong during a show and needed to make a quick change. Seeing it was a Spector at this price point was something I couldn't pass up. After changing the strings and plugging it in, I was pretty surprised how good it sounded. read more Neck was good, action was set close to the board, volume was definitely there, although some of the tone settings on the bass itself leave a bit to be desired. The real test was when I brought it to band practice to show the guys/put it through a decent amp. At practice, I use a 1978 (est) Ampeg SVT tube head playing through an Ampeg 4x10/1x15 cabinet. Once I fired it up and played a bit, any concerns I had before melted away. Everyone in the band said the bass sounded awesome and that I really need to use it during regular gigs and not let it sit as a backup. If that's not a resounding endorsement than I don't know what is. As such, I will bring it out during certain songs and play it. Some observations that I have is that the string spacing was pretty tight compared to my Warwick but I was able to adjust to that pretty quickly. As mentioned before, the tonal control at the bass level could have been a little better but if you have a decent enough amp, you can make this thing positively thrum and shake the whole place. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the nice bright blue finish on it that really makes the bass pop out. I like that the neck is 5 piece and it felt very smooth to play on, up and down the fret board. Final thoughts: this is a solid 5 string bass, especially at its current price point. Highly recommend for beginners and advanced players alike!

Fantastic 5-string bass

I have been playing bass guitar for 16 years but this is my first 5-string. I had a Spector Legend 4 for a decade and had no complaints, so I knew I would be happy with Spector...but this bass greatly exceeded my expectations! It looks great, is comfortable to play, not too heavy, and plays very nicely. I usually play rock and metal but this bass could probably play jazz and funk read more very well, too. 10/10, would recommend.

Spector did it excellent again

I have 20 years playing bass. Try and had a lot of basses, from a cheap Rogue to a Warwick Thumb. I'm a Fender guy most, and 85% of the time I use 4 strings. I wanted to replace my only five strings bass with a new one for those rare moments, so I started to search and tried all I could, from arround $350 to $700 range. All basses felt short to my taste. I already have a Spector read more Legend 4 with p/j that I bought here a year ago, but normaly, I don't like to have the same bass model in 4 and 5 strings. So I ignored this "guy" for arround 8 months. After all the disapointment, finally I pulled the trigger again on Spector. Like my 4 strings, every aspect of this bass is amazing. Well balance, stable, versatile, excellent fret work to put a low action without buzz, awesome paint job and a huge 5th string sound. What else can you ask for a bass guitar? I made my own setups, but I have to mention that this bass arrived with a very nice setup. I just add a couple of adjustments. Thanks Sweetwater, thanks Spector.

Really well built! Love the tone and the knobs have the perfect feel to them not too loose or too stiff! Tuning is very stable and the shape of the bass is very comfortable as well!

My all time favorite bass is my 20 year old made in USA Spector bolt on. I don’t like to take it to local bars so I wanted to try the new Spector Standard to use for this purpose. No local shops by me had the new Standard model do I took a chance with Sweetwater since they have a great return policy. I haven’t compared it to my American made Spector but the Standard model sounds read more great and the action, fit and finish were perfect out of the box. You can dial in some punchy lows and sizzling high. The newer Spector Standards come with flame maple top. I got mine in white and with the comfortable Spector body shape and weight (under 8 and a half) it’s a pleasure to play. Thanks to my rep Devin for a great price and quick delivery.
