WAY more than a Mayer pedal
This is a really good pedal. I see many people saying it's great for the "Mayer tone" but it's so much more than that. I paired this with a good EQ, and man, with the gain dialed back just enough to add some hair, it's an "always on" sort of thing now. I've never been a big fan of people saying any pedal sounds "just like tube breakup" but this thing definitely has that character.… read more I push a JHS Bender with it too, and it makes any overdrive/fuzz after it scream. I'll definitely keep this thing forever. The combinations of clean/dry signal with a slightly gritty sound behind it are incredible, but even when you crank the gain up on this, it sounds ridiculously good. This is a lifer on my pedalboard for sure. The Timmy, and Morning Glory have nothing on this pedal when it comes to "transparent overdrive". (I have an MG V4 and an Original Cochrane Timmy, which I love, but they don't compare)
Very Cool pedal
This is an awesome pedal. It crackles and sizzles with energy. Very cool. I highly recommend it.
I was a bit dissapointed at first.
When this thing arrived I was a little disappointed. The reason of my disappointment was that it didn't seem to do much to the sound when I turned on the pedal. I was wrong... after some hours of use I came to the conclusion that this pedal is awesome. The knobs are very responsive and while IMO this is a pedal that has a very specific use it is a great addition to any pedal board.… read more It basically makes your cleans sound better, much better IMHO. This is a set and forget always on pedal. It can also do some light overdrive and sounds pretty well. This also made my coil split PRS CE sound much closer to a Strat, and made my Strat sound so much better, it made it sound so good that I no longer feel the need to change the pickups of my MIM strat. If you play cleans this pedal is a must!
Not EXACTLY the same tone as it's big brother but it's a great choice
There's something missing, can't quite put my finger on it. BUT.. the controllable low end and small size make this pedal a must have. I have it at the end of my pedal chain, just before the reverb, so it can be affected by my compressor and overdrive pedals. It really breathes like it's big brother! The controls are more efficiently laid out and the fact that they are small… read more is no issue for me, as this is mostly a fire and forget pedal. I also appreciate the bright blue LED so I have no doubt it's on under stage lights. Mason thought about us crowded pedal board guys with the cable jack placement as well!
Steel String Clean Drive is a keeper
Love that it doesn't bury my guitar tone and let's it ring out. Great bite!
