Good pedal
Great pedal
100 Proof Overdrive
Let me qualify my opinion, this pedal in my main rig was too bright! Having said that when I paired the T Drive with a dark amp & cabinet it became glorious. So in a perfect world this pedal needs a tone control. I would think in a live setting or if you need your guitar to cut through the mix, it could be for you. Like the name implies the T Drive has a tremendous amount of drive.… read more Considering this much gain it's quiet until you pour it on.
Drive sounds
this is a great open sounding drive. Goes from lite overdrive to classic overdrive. Super good drive sound, i played it for hours when it arrived... Thanks to Tad a fine sales engineer who always delivers the best sales experience. Thanks to All the fine people at Sweetwater!!!
Trainwreck Amp in a Box!
I'd be willing to bet that very few readers have ever played a Trainwreck amp. I've been around forever and had never played one until last year. The Vertex T-Drive pedal sounds, acts and feels **** close to the Trainwreck head I played. Vertex says, "No Tone Control is needed - the pedal is designed to interact with your amp's tone controls". That scares you...it sure did me. Vertex… read more is right. Surprised? Though classified as an "overdrive" (and it's a superb one!) you should expand your view on it a bit. It's a Trainwreck amp in a box! It's a little different. If you see it that way before you purchase it you're guaranteed to love it. Notes: I was afraid it would have a TS9-type of mid-range hump, it does not. I was concerned it would lack bass - it has plenty. Also, as the Gain is increased the tone seems to always remain pretty correct - the pedal is filled with "sweet spots"! I find the whole range/sweep of the Gain control to be utterly usable from top to bottom. The Trainwreck head I played had a "full-bodied" sound with a sweet overdrive that fell between a Fender and a Marshall. It had "chime" but also moved air. It was touch responsive and "quick" - very "hi-fi". I saw what the mystique and hype was all about. The T-Drive produces a very impressive sonic recreation of the amp I played! After 150+ pedals over the years, I'm hard to impress. The Vertex T-Drive completely delivered on its promise. Go read their description and background on it so you'll know what you're doing then Buy One!! Now....before they change it....GO!
