The best period.
I have tried alot of overdrive and never been blown away until now. This pedal has great tones from overdriving clean tones to pushing the top of your dirty tones. I wouldn't buy this finish again as it wears easy and expect fingerprints every time you touch it. The Tone makes up for the easy finish wear, after all you cant play a finish
Great overdrive!
This is my second Jeff Archer, I liked the first one so much that I had to get a second one for my backup board. Works great as a clean boost stacked with other drives or on its on as a heavier overdrive.
Great Pedal
These pedal nails a certain unique sound. It has heavier Mids than i expected. It has found a home on the board.
Head-Room pushed
as a gear nerd, obviously i've known about the infamous Klon pedal for years n years - yet i nvr had the opportunity to try one or a clone.. i first got my hands on one - a digital version - when my Quad Cortex arrived and inside was a captured version by Neural. i have a 4 cable method running into my Boogie Mark V.. normally i had an SD-1 infront of the Mark IV channel... but… read more when i switched to the "Myth Pedal" the game had changed .. i couldn't believe my ears, so i called Sweetwater and asked them to send me the best Half Man - Half Horse pedal in the market. and they sent me the Jeff Archer model J Rockett Audio - pretty much exactly the same as the Myth in QC btw.. so i've made the switch to be honest. i can dial in the same gain and treble but i don't lose the headroom - just the opposite it adds another level of breath you can feel the amp just breathing properly and sounding fantastic.. its expensive but its a no brainer - it'll change the way you tweak your sound.. you will see that no setting is set in stone and there are many different variations of getting the same sound going between the Jeff Archer and your pre-amp. Fantastic purchase, def recommend, and will probably end up buying yet another for my other rig..
Very transparent boost
I have spent about two hours with this pedal on my board and this is my take on it... It will not turn a clean signal into a fire breather. It does not have the mid hump boost of a Tubescreamer or OD-1. It is more subtle than that. I have done A/B testing with the Jeff Archer and a Keeley modded Maxon OD808 in my EVH 5150 III 50w EL34 head and matching 2x12 cab and the Maxon has… read more more gain. But the Maxon is completely unusable for the Red channel. The Jeff Archer actually makes the Red channel sound better. Even with an MXR 10 band eq in the effects loop, the Jeff Archer still adds something to the Red channel that the Maxon can't do. The Jeff Archer adds definition and articulation to everything. It doesn't overpower anything. But it can add to everything.
