J Rockett Jeff Archer. The real King of Tone
Many have tried nailing the original and elusive "unobtainable" Klon Centaur sound until now. I have been buying many taunted as the best substitute ... but to no avail. The J. Rockett Jeff Archer simply is the best and most transparent clean boost/overdrive pedal. Period. The immediacy of the tone detail is astonishingly addictive and apparent. The clarity of notes jumps out of… read more the amp ... truly amazing piece of kit
Love it but I fried it!
love it to death - and I fried it by giving it 18 volts DC power. Hopefully Jay will send me a replacement boards.
Best of the three
I have this, the standard Archer and the Ikon. All are great and have their own distinct attributes, but this one is the most articulate and responsive, and the the least muddy. Increased touch sensitivity and attack with a shot of grit. I've tried a lot of overdrives over the years and I doubt there is anything superior if you are looking for something transparent and authentic sounding. Plus, I feel the buffer makes everything sound better especially when the pedal is first in your chain.
Versatile Pedal

I've used it on top of a crunchy Marshall to get a soaring, singing lead tone. I've also used it on top of a clean Fender Deluxe to add slight grit and saturation. To me, it sounds very tube-ish. I'm not a pedal distortion guy. I usually use the amp's… read more gain for my distortion sound but this pedal can really sound natural. It's got a mid bump honk (which I like) so make sure you like a midrange guitar tone when buying this.
Definitely an improvement over the original
I have the original Archer and was curious if it could be improved with the JB mod. After doing a head to head it is fatter and more open sounding, highly recommended.
