A wonderful low noise clean boost
This pedal is simple but don't let that simplicity fool you. It's meant as a clean boost and it is wonderful at it.
Great option to have around.
You may want to run this through a bypass but it's great for volume boosts that way where you can really adjust bass treble and gain too. Useful for heavier music for sure.
Works Seamlessly and Transparently
Works as advertised, seamless and transparent. I run a Boss GT-1000 into a Mesa Boogie 50 watt amp and needed an easier way to boost my signal when it comes to solos. I have programmed a boost into the GT-1000 peddle but a) it's clunky, mostly when I need to turn it off and go back to playing rhythm and singing - just too many actions and b) I wanted to regain the aforementioned… read more button to select other effects. To this end this peddle is magic! I place it after the GT-1000 on the way to my amp. Pros It provides a transparent boost to my signal with the tone knobs at 12 o'clock, you can colour the signal if you want but to this point I haven't had a need to do that. The BOOST/LEVEL I place at 10 o'clock and that's enough to soar over the rest of my 4 piece band. The gain is also at 12 o'clock just to give the solo a pinch of distortion, but it's clean enough that it doesn't change my clean tones. Things to consider This is NOT a distortion peddle by any means, it is strictly a boost peddle - even with the "GAIN" all the way up, it's barely adding any grit - which is exactly what I needed This is 5 stars all the way, MESA/Boogie delivers as expected!!
This one has remained through nearly 3 yrs of pedal changing
Seriously underrated pedals, all the Mesa stuff. Top notch all the way. Every time I pull this one off the board it ends up coming back as it is just that good. Love how it fattens up the low end without mud and the high without getting shrill, about 1:00 on the tones with the gain at zero is my constant use. Pushes and blooms out the other pedals after it. I consider this like… read more a Morning Glory or a Blues Driver thing but I like this pedal more. Good impedance in/out does not funnel off the bandwidth like so many pedals. Lately I have been missing the 5 band EQ and the Flux drive I had, I think a redo is in order. Don't know how the newer pedals far but this series is tried and true keeper level.
Tone Burst Indeed!
Finally! A clean boost that WORKS without changing the sound of my Mark V, I have tried a LOT of them too. Very nice, money well spent. Adds a nice sponginess when dialed in. Leave it to Boogie, they know...also built like a tank and very good looking on my board but, it's the sound that matters. Very quiet too, This thing delivered for me, I would heartily recommend it.
