Surprisingly useful EQ
I actually really like this pedal. I use it at 18v and I think it's a great EQ. It's responsive, effective, and sounds great despite it's simplicity. I loved my RC Booster, but I wanted something that had the same EQ properties, but more headroom and this is it. I have kept this at the beginning of my board since I bought it, and it makes everything sound exactly how I want it to.… read more Not much to it, but nothing to be unhappy about. Simple, useful EQ with the effectiveness of a multi band EQ, with way less knobs. Just what I wanted.
Great boost!
Highly recommended. Been through a lot of boosts. This is my favorite. It's great before and after overdrive. I currently use before an lpd sixty 8 drive to increase the gain. I really like to be able to adjust the eq when boosting so it doesn't also boost too much bass and I like to more so boost the treble and mids. I had the last version as well which was also great but sold… read more because the foot switch was too loud. I was worried that this new version with silent switching wouldn't sound as good but I think it might sound better which isn't always the case with new versions. If your on the fence but it and try it and I don't think you will be disappointed.
Just What My Strat Needed!
This pedal has worked wonders for beefing up the tone of my Strat. I have a Fender Jag with two humbuckers and anytime I would go from the Jag to the Strat the Strat just felt lacking and thin. I even have a SD JB Jr. in the bridge of my Strat. I wanted an EQ pedal that was simple and sounded great, and did I choose correctly! EQD have really hit the nail on the head with this… read more pedal. It's simplicity and great sound make it top-notch and EQD customer service seems to be fantastic. I've used this pedal for a few months now to add some bass and more mids to my Strat and most likely will never play my Strat without it. Grab this EQ pedal if you need one. You won't regret your decision!
The Perfect Boost for Gigging Players!
I needed a boost pedal that would work in conjunction with my primary, singular overdrive in a live situation. My approach is one where I just want "more" of my basic overdriven sound for lead breaks and I wanted to accomplish this by stepping on a boost pedal that didn't overly color the sound. Also, I wanted an EQ to be able to sculpt a neutral tone if the boost made any given… read more frequency of my overdrive become overly emphasized. The Tone Shaper not only provides a killer, natural, muscular boost but also allows you to dial its EQ in to perfectly provide the boosted tone you want. I wanted players who share my same need for a great live performance boost for leads to read this review and buy this pedal. It did exactly what I wanted. So good I bought a second one!
Superb with 18 volt power
I prefer the natural tone of my guitars straight into my Swart STR amp and have returned many pedals that either colored the tone or robbed presence. I read reviews of this pedal and decided to give it a try. My main guitar is a semi-hollow and it has Alnico V magnets which have a great, tight bass and high-end treble; semi hollows tend to be mid-scooped due to design and the Alnico… read more V magnets furthers this even more. The Tone Job is a great pedal that brings the mids in while preserving the natural tone; it will likely be on all the time. The clean boost is very transparent. Adjustments can greatly shape tone towards sounding like completely different guitars. The controls, while simple are very effective with what sounds pleasing to the ear as far as ranges go. NOTE: switching to 18v power lowered the noise to being barely audible and also seemed to slightly enhance clarity more so than 9v power. I now understand why EQ pedals are greatly underrated. Sweetwater customer service is tops!
