Wanted to like it
I really wanted to like this pedal, but it popped every time I turned it on & that dang LED was blindingly bright for seemingly no reason. Thankfully, Sweetwater's return policy made it all better.
Completely Agree!
The first review of this is dead on accurate. Also I have a completely different rig than Weston, but have the same results. Always on transparent grit is what this pedal gives you. Great for Texas blues.
Buy this.
I have been looking for an 'always on' transparent drive to add a little hair and life to my clean tone. Replaced my Soul Food, which I could never get totally happy with. Wow. With volume set at unity, gain almost off (8 oclock), and tone at 1pm it brings out the best in a: my guitar, b: my other pedals, c: my amp. a: The TV Jones in my Gretsch never sounded so good. At the above… read more settings it sounds like the best version of my guitar. If you turn the gain up very far (past 9, which is not how I use it) it will color your tone as people say but IMHO that color is lovely. Great for playing chords distinctly. And as for lead tones... b: I could never get exactly what I wanted out of my OCD as a 2nd stage drive. When I'd kick it on (used with the soul food) it'd sound like an entirely different guitar. Putting the OCD before the Voyager an using it for leads and Oh my word. Exactly what my ear wants to hear. Same great tone but just pushed into this gorgeous harmonic saturation. c: I was generally happy with my Katana as an amp, but I had not idea that it could sound this good. I set it on the edge of breakup. The pedal is so dynamically responsive. Sounds sparkly and clean with a light touch and grits up with a heavy hand. I'm getting sounds now that I only had in my head. And that's what the search for tone is all about.
