Fantastic bass!! Thank you Yamaha, Sweetwater and Matt Stockberger!
I was a little worried about buying a bass online, and one I had not played in person but, I love the fact that Sweetwater photographs in HD the actual bass you are purchasing. I also loved the fact they inspect each instrument with their 55 point checklist for defects prior to sending it to you. I had played a TRBX505 at a local store and liked it the best of all the 5 strings… read more they had available in stock but didn't like the color and, it was more expensive than what Sweetwater has them listed as. I then saw this bass, the TRBX305 @ Sweetwater.com, and loved the color and figured it was pretty similar to the TRBX505 except for the electronics. I loved the idea of the 5 position switch. I have played a few 5 strings but never owned one and didn't want to spend too much on my first 5 string bass. I already own 10 basses, including 2 uprights, a real 1957 and 1959 Fender P bass, Fender jazz plus bass, ESP, and 2 Deans, Kay and Danelectro along with 2 Marin guitars, including a 1969 D-28 I bought in 1969 and a PRS and a Squire Strat and Epiphone. I decided to order this bass loved the fact you are able to track your order each step of the way. It was free shipping and no sales tax because I live in Delaware. It arrived in 3 days in flawless condition. It played and felt wonderful right out of the box! It feels very solid and the knobs feel expensive and turn very very smooth. The tuning pegs are solid as well. The neck is a satin finish and love how it feels. The intonation is spot on and the neck is straight with the perfect amount of relief. If there is anything at all that needs adjusting is the nut may be a hair too high. I am taking it to my guy to have him check the slot height. It still feels good, and if it is, it's only a schosh. Yamaha makes some quality instruments and I would definitely recommend this bass and Sweetwater. Thank you Matt Stockberger for taking such care of me and my purchase. I highly recommend this bass if you don't want to break the bank and Sweetwater for your store! Jan Zukowski
Great bass great price
Love the new bass. Easy process of purchasing it thru Sweetwater. Also got a case for it the same week.
Awesome Gear
I have never owned a Yamaha Bass but, I have a Yamaha Trbx305 Bass and it got a great tone and great furnishing. I can't wait to get hold of my personal TRBX305 Gear soon. And I will recommend it to every bassplayer
Amazing bass
What an amazing bass! I want to add a 5 strings to my colection, but I didn't want to spend lot of money because I enjoy more the 4 strings. I tryied a lot of good basses, including the Yamaha Trbx505 witch is the next model to this one. This is by far the best 5 strings under $600. My main basses are a Fender Geddy Lee signature and a Warwick Corvette and this Yamaha TRBX305 easily… read more kills both in sound, versatility, balance, playability and the price is half of the others. I change the strings for LaBella 40-118 and I got a nice low action without buzz. Yamaha really take care or the details. A+ bass.
Worth it
As a lifelong guitarist, I bought this bass for writing and recording demo material with. I honestly don't know if I could have expected any nicer of an instrument for what I was after. I've had it for several months now and I can say that the 305 is a solid instrument, you can tell before you plug it in. It plays effortlessly, stays in tune, and a the EQ circuit makes finding the… read more tone in your head a lot quicker, especially for a novice bassist like myself. Fit and finish are top notch, too. Also: Buy it here. Seriously, the inspection is worth it - even if they don't immediately have it in stock. I just bought a completely unrelated guitar (for $1k more!!!) from a competitor and I didn't even bother plugging it in because it had so many cosmetic defects right out of the box. Your patience will be rewarded.
Awesome Bass
I own a TRBX 305 and 304 and they are both awesome. They are my main gouging basses now because they are super light, have a lot of versatile tones for any genre, and are easy to play. I have several other fender p basses and jazz and none of them measure up to these. And both of these together cost less than one of the fenders.
Exceeding ALL of my expectations!
Well ..... I tried a used one at a local music store & I was pleasantly surprised by the superior tone & feel of the Yamaha TRBX 305 .... I decided to order one & give it a try .... I have quite a few basses ...this bass has become one of my main go to basses.... it's got excellent tone & the 5 position tone selector (EQ) switch is great....it is NOT a useless gimmick! ...the… read more bass has a very solid feel to it ..great fret work ... moderate weight 9 lbs ... sturdy good quality hardware..smooth pots ...beautiful finish & matching headstock ...it compares well with basses cost 4 to 5 X times it's price.... it was set-up very well right out of the box!.... accurate harmonics ..very even sustain ,, NO dead spots!.... rock solid stable tuning even de-tuned 1 whole step!! low A thru F. very versatile sound that works with any style or genre .... I am extremely pleased with this high quality machine!
Sweet Bass!!
This is such a great bass! I absolutely love it. It is very comfortable to play and the electronics are fantastic. The price is excellent for the quality of this intrument. 10/10 would recommend.
A home run by Yamaha!
Wow, what a sweet bass! Feels great in the hand, looks great, sounds beautiful. I have several Fenders and love them, and I almost bought a 5-string P, but I'm happy I chose this one. The tone is deep and powerful with a sweet top end. The EQ presets are very useful for quick adjustments and the preamp is quiet. Bass and treble control frequency centers are just right. In fact,… read more the preamp sounds as good as, and is less noisy than, my Sadowsky outboard. Don't let the low price fool you, Yamaha really hit it out of the park with this one!
Yamaha TRBX305WH is # 1
I honestly was not sure about getting the 305 instead of the 505 with slightly better pick ups but after using it last week when I received it it REALLY didn't matter. This bass is awesome!!!!! The 5-way switch had me!!! One amazing bass!
I haven't been able to put this bass down since I brought it home! Excellent quality, sound and ease of play. Very versatile, far more than I was expecting for a bass of this price. I reviewed many basses before purchasing this one at the Sweetwater store. Yamaha has always been great guitars and they still are.I also purchased a Hartke A35 amp at the same time for practice. The… read more combination sounds as good as the Zon Sonus 519 through a Trace-Elliot 210 amp I played a couple of years ago! You won't go wrong with this bass!Sweetwater salesman was helpful, courteous and a pleasure to deal with! I am a very happy customer!
