Exactly what I was looking for.
This bass is crystal clear, tight, and still has a range of sonic choices. I have La Bella low tension flats on it. It's very comfortable to play and really feels like a premium instrument. And the pickups in passive mode sound great - not just some kind of afterthought "in case of emergency" option.
Incredible
Great bass. Reliable. Always gets the job done and plays like butter. The neck is super easy to navigate and the bass is extremely light so it's comfortable for long gigs.
Yamaha 5-string bass
Just got mine about 4 hours ago. Have probably played it 2 hours now. My first impression is a very solid well made bass. Lots of low end. Small but not too small. Very comfortable to play. Looks great, beautiful finish.
Near perfect
First of all the sound coming from this masterpiece is 10/10. The slap pops and the sound is clean and powerful, however, the instrument is a bit smaller than I expected making it feel a bit odd for me to play (6'3) but nothing unbearable.
Great has been upgraded to Awesome!
I have owned the previous version of this bass. Many have stated that the sound can be a little bland at times but with this new version, Alder/Flame maple top, it absolutely sings! The tone is very different though many people will denounce tonewoods but I am super satisfied with this purchase and look forward to many years of playing this bass!
