Gibson SG Standard Review

Perfect, right out of the box.

Wonderful guitar! Light and comfortable to play. And the tone. The TONE. It's a rock machine. I expected that it would arrive needing a setup, but the action and intonation are perfect. Stays in tune without issue. Still smells like fresh paint, too!

Here is why you buy your guitar at sweetwater.

OK so I looked at this guitar at a big guitar store near me. I liked the black more than the red but the neck was such a light brown on both that it looked way better on the red. then i started looking at sweetwater like once a week. then one day i saw my guitar. a black one with the darkest brown neck i had seen to date. hmmm 7 lbs 1 oz. ...you know what? My first Gibson

I have never been able to afford a true Gibson. Keith worked with me to find the perfect piece. It looks like museum artwork. Incredible to play. Needed very little setup. I can be extremely picky.

2021 Gibson SG Standard

Absolutely great guitar. Gibson is doing better these days, I think. There were absolutely no flaws on the guitar I received. It is absolutely beautiful and plays/sounds sweet. Dark fretboard, fairly good set up already from the box. It just "feels" good. 490 pickups are some of my favorite Gibson makes. Service from Sweetwater was spot on. Birthday trip

We took our 17 yr old to Sweetwater to experience the store we had heard so much about. We were at first not getting any help and were kinda underwhelmed. When we asked for help we never stopped receiving it! My son got to play guitars we clearly could not afford but not one employee made us feel like we weren't welcome to let him play. He tried pedals galore! Although they didn't… read more have the guitar he initially went to look at he ended up getting what he considered a dream guitar. We were treated very well and the experience although not cheap was a good one. My son has asked several times when are we going back. Everyone we spoke to knew exactly what we were asking and what they were talking about. I highly recommend if you can to go to the store it's a great place to shop. So now about the guitar! It is amazing it has great sound and my son loves the sound. We need a better amp to give this guitar the sound it deserves.

Loving my new SG

I just got my first Gibson SG and I'm blown away at the quality of it. The guitar arrived at my house in perfect condition and I couldn't be happier. The finish on the guitar is beautiful and there is not a single flaw on any parts of it. Everything from the tuners to the tone knobs and toggle switch are all very sturdy and function well. I feel like the standard models have a slightly… read more "darker" sound compared to the 61' and that is exactly what I wanted. I have a simple setup and the amount of tones I can get out of this guitar is on another level compared to most other guitars that I've owned. Finally!!

What a great guitar. Does everything I need it to do. Great tone. Action. I love the way it smells. Lightweight with a thick but smooth, resonating neck. Got to give her room to breathe, but once you get her going you never want to stop.
