Surprisingly usable, weird and plays nice with other pedals.

This is an endearing little device. I was drawn to the ability to do unconventional, choppy percussive trem. Across 25+ years of pedal collecting, I'd never owned a tremolo pedal, mostly because I'd ended up being an effects-minimalist bass player in bands I was involved with. Now older, a bit wiser, with a more experimental & adventurous return to my guitar roots, I decided to read more take the plunge. The Hummingbird is great. The momentary function, activated by holding the footswitch opened up some really creative fun right off the bat. The 3-position speed switch lets you go from a more classic tremolo sound to a staccato chopped up broken thumping effect. With the switch in the middle and the depth and rate knobs both turned up (on guitar), I can get a unique vibrating detuned sound that is *almost* reminiscent of a bitcrusher on a more tamed and usable setting. Placed after a high gain distortion or fuzz on less severe settings, you can get weird pulsing sound artifacts that materialize just after single notes that remind me of a muted little explosion, distant little fuzz bomb crackles. The Hummingbird is surprisingly diverse in its ability to produce some very mild and musical trem settings too. I can see more conventional/less noisy players digging the more classic side of this pedal. Putting an inexpensive keyboard through it opens up lots of new sonic doors as well. I've only scratched the surface and have yet to pair it with my EQD Data Corrupter. Typical EQD quality , green (almost overly) bright led indicator, handsome paintjob and nice soft switching make it a pleasure to use. I don't know that it's found its place yet in my music but for a tremolo pedal it's above-average on fun factor and experimentation. I may finally buy an expression pedal so I can use it with this or the Data Corrupter.

Great pedal

This is a great sounding tremolo pedal. Same superior build quality I've experienced with all other Earthquaker stuff. It has every speed you could want from super slow to VERY fast. You can even turn the trem completely off and use it as a clean boost which is nice. However I would tell other potential buyers that it uses a triangle waveform for the trem, not the sine wave most read more might be used to. So it is a sharper sound than what you might be expecting. All around great pedal though.

Really unique tremolo pedal!!!! Expression pedal sounds awesome!

This is my new favorite tremolo pedal. It's great with or without the expression pedal. But with the expression pedal!!! Awesome to sweep it using an ebow for crazy ebow solos! Really cool on lead guitar but also awesome on clean rythm guitar for just really awesome different trem sounds. Love this pedal. Glad I found it on the new version I need top jacked and top power. Expression read more on the side is great because I prefer this particular tremolo 1 st in my signal chain. You can put it anywhere but for my specific experimentation with expression pedal I like it before fuzz and wah. Fuzz into it is cool too though. Fun sounds. It will never get old to me. Hummingbird is the perfect name get this thing going on an ebow solo riff and like most EQD pedals the name really does represent the sound it makes. Killer pedal!

Real unique trem...

Love it. Watch some demos so you know what you"re getting. But it"s rad.

Awesome Tremolo!

This is a great tremolo pedal that runs the gamut of tremolo speed. I think the thing that separates this from other tremolo pedals is being able to control the rate in real time with an expression pedal. The momentary operation is a nice little addition as well.
