Great Mod Platform with Fender Specs

The Jag out of the box was nice. Classic 70's styling and circuitry. I took mine to the next level though. I replaced the bridge with a Mustang bridge for better adjustability. I added a a Fender string mute. I replaced the tremolo with a Fender branded tremolo. I also replaced the torty pick guard with a mint green one. I replaced the black knobs with aged white to match the pickups.… read more Oh yeah, the pickups... replaced those as well. I went with EP Custom Pickups, their vintage '62 Jaguar model with aged white cover. I also replaced the entire wiring harness with a 920D Jaguar Vintage harness with 1000k pots. It adds so much tone variation! Lastly I copper shielded the cavities. I took all this to my local luthier and he worked his magic. He put 10's on it. It is now a completely different guitar now. He swears it sounds better than a Fender Custom Shop build. I have to get used to the 9.5" radius (I'm used to 12") but other than that I LOVE this guitar.

Fender Player MIM level quality. Great mod platform.

I've been wanting a Jaguar for a while now. What's stopped me was the limited choices. You could get a Squier VM, a Fender Player (which are usually not vintage specs), or empty your wallet for an American model. When I saw this CV in Surf Green I had to pull the trigger. So a surf green Jag was next on the list.I received mine in perfect condition and ready to play after a quick tuning. I have to say, for $ this guitar is excellent. The build quality, fit and finish is far above what you'd expect for a Squier. They have really upped their game with the CV series. So why only 4 stars? Well, being completely honest, I can tell where Squier saved $$$ on this model. Two big factors are the microphonic pickups and the the fact the neck is not pitched correctly per Leo Fender's designs. Leo designed the Jaguar neck to be shimmed. The lack of neck back angle is the main reason the guitar buzzes and the strings pop out of the saddles so easily. Leo designed the Jaguars to have a small back angle to allow the bridge to be raised and put more downward pressure across the bridge. Also, putting 9's on a Jag is criminal LOL. So several things I will be modding when the parts come in. • The tremolo is good, but it isn't buttery smooth so I'll be upgrading to a Fender AVRI. • Changing the bridge to a Mustang model with height adjustable saddles. • Adding a Fender Mute like the 60's models had. • Changed the pick guard to mint green to match my Strat and Tele. • Changing the pickups for some EP Customs '62 vintage models in aged white covers to match the Start/Tele. They are RWRP so no buzz when both pickups are on. • Changing out the full wiring harness for a 920D Vintage Jaguar harness. 1000k pots and true vintage sound. • The tuners are fine and hold tune but they are low ratio so tuning is sloppy. Now you may be saying, just by an American. Well No. It's still far cheaper to buy the Squier CV and mod it than to buy a stock Player or American. Bottom line the Squier CV 70's Jaguar is a GREAT guitar for the price. If you're a beginner it's great to start learning on and you can modify it as you gain experience. You can't go wrong with purchasing it. I would definitely recommend taking it to a luthier to have the neck shimmed and have a proper setup done. Or just have Sweetwater do it for you.

Simply Amazing

Straight out of the box this guitar was ready to go. Super easy to play with the thin, shorter neck. The contours of the guitar make it very comfortable and the tone is amazing! I highly recommend this guitar especially if you want an excellent quality Jag without the hefty price tag. Great guitar for a squire

I recently purchased this guitar. I was a little reluctant to get it but I'm so happy I did. It came fully playable no problems at all. The tall, thin frets make it easy for quick play. The single coils are great for a low warm fuzz or a nice crunchy growl. The vintage feel fits perfect for this guitar. The "tone cut" switch is alright but I can't see myself using much since it… read more cuts the low end and quiets the guitar during play. But it does allow a lil more customization in tone. Love all the quick switches which make it great to for lead or rhythm or a quick switch between both. All in all this is a great guitar I'm happy I took the chance on and purchased.

Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jaguar - Surf Green

What can I say that hasn't been already said in the previous reviews. The quality and craftsmanship of this guitar is rather outstanding considering two things, one is a Squire and two it's under $... I've had the guitar for a little over a week now and I must say right out of the box it truly played 100% fine, thanks to Sweetwater's 55 point inspection all I had to do was unboxed… read more it, tune it and away I went. If you are on the fence about getting this guitar I highly urge you to go for it, pull the trigger you will not be disappointed.My sales engineer Logan Miller has sold me countless guitars. I have always and will always ask for him. Logan Miller is by far the best sales engineer Sweetwater has. The man is a wealth of knowledge. I always know that if I have a question about any of my gear I don't have to go to google, and I don't have to go to YouTube. I just simply go to Logan. Time and time again he has help me with any issues that I have had.
