I hate to admit it, as I'm not a big pedal guy, but this one actually beats the real thing. I have several Fender amps, new, vintage and reissue, and this thing does spring reverb better than real spring reverb does spring reverb. It enables me to use a many amps for live performances that were previously relegated to studio duty since they had no on-board 'verb, and it makes at read more home playing just that much better.

Utility - yes. Versatility - no

I built a 6G15 standalone tank off the Fender schematic, and no other spring reverb I've played stacks up to it. Gigging with the tank is a pain though, so I've been looking for a substitute that I can travel with more easily. I've tried out the Hall of Fame 2, Big Sky, and Marine Layer boxes. While each of those (the Fame 2 and Big Sky especially) have massive versatility, the read more utility of them in my setup misses the mark no matter how much I fiddle with the dials or dig into the TonePrint app. The tre-verb spring emulation is the best I've heard in a stompbox. It can be subtle or get very drippy. The dials however aren't intuitive; the Dwell knob in no way resembles the functionality on a standalone tank verb. With some tweaking though I can dial in the right amount of spring reverb to get me through a live set. With some quick on stage adjustments I can dial in something splashier for the songs that call for it. The trem side of the pedal needs the depth knob to turn about twice as far as it does for this to really be an effect pedal. Even as an emulation it doesn't feel like it digs quite as deep as the classic circuits it emulates. But again, the utility is there to get me through the songs I need it to. The build quality is top notch. Everything feels solid. I've only had this box for a month or so, but I don't see any failure points I'll have to worry about. I won't be counting on any user serviceability; I haven't attempted to open the box to take a look at the guts, but it looks like you'd have to pull off every knob, jack, switch, and button to get the lid off. For my live rig I'm pulling my Carl Martin trem and my verb tank out, replacing them both with this one box. The ease of it, the workman tone, and the space saved make it more than worth the cost. Style of play - Indie Rock, Punk Rock, Surf, Rockabilly

Great reverb and tremelo but a tad disappointed

I got this because I loved the sound of a 63' Fender reverb simulator from a plugin that I use in my studio. Fills out echoed slide. Think Sponge Bob sound track or Joe Walsh with James Gang. Real Fender Reverb Units are just too much money. And they break. And they can be noisy. I saw this, listened to the reviews and I got it. Sounds great and I love every aspect of the two read more effects. The only problem was that it immediately introduced a high pitched squeal or hum when I used with my communal power supply. Definitely not a 60 or 120 cycle hum. When I was not playing, the hum would cycle at the rate of the tremolo if it was on and it would be constant with the reverb on or off. The hum or more like squeal had to go, or the pedal was going to have to go back. Troubleshooting, the hum remained even with the pedal disconnected from the effect chain, but still plugged into power supply. I tried a separate power supply from the rest of the chain, and the noise disappeared even with the pedal being part of the chain. So I am enjoying the lush effects, but bummed that to use it live, it needs its own power train to push it just to cure the hum. The communal power supply ran the pedal just fine, but the noise would make any moderate audiophile crazy pretty quickly. I am sure it would be easy for Fender to correct this with some kind of buffer on the power input side. But I'm sitting here awash in trembly-reverby splendor.

Hours of Fun!

I plugged in my Baritone "Swamp Thing" Mule and found myself deep in the swamp with this pedal. The Harmonic Tremolo sounded luscious with the Baritone and the adjustable reverb added the sweetness that took me deep into the swamp. The hard or soft tremolo are very useful tools as well. I like the trem to verb, verb to trem switch that gives different flavor to the pedal. I read more look forward to adding this to my board for a wet-dry-wet setup.
