My favourite caps
I've tried bunches of caps and these really do sound good, seem to add some warmth and low end, subtle but good. These new ones are a lot smaller than the old ones, but the quality seems the same, which to me this time was a good thing cause it went in my SG and it's a little tight in there (said the actress to the bishop)
Mojo tone .022 oil cap
wow what a great sound enhancement to my originally **** tone knob on my older Gibson sonnex 180,i just recently dug it it out and have since then changed my bridge pickup to a Seymour Duncan sh4 JB and now with a new split coil volume switch and new mojo tone .022 cap what a difference in tone that I have never experienced before . it has a smooth crisp bright to a brownish darker… read more tone when mixed with the neck pickups you can almost get a natural slight hollow effect. works better than expected.i blended with my neck tone which has an original .041 cap. makes a great sound change, enjoy and good luck itll sound great on yours too!
Awesome Awesome Awesome
I have used almost all the options, Orange Drops, Mylar, Russian PIO but these are my favorites!!! I think the real secret is in Good 500K Pots (Mojotones vintage taper) 50's wiring and these Caps.. I have them paired up in a Les Paul with Slash Alnico II Pro's w/Covers and the sound is absolutely amazing!! Highly recommended if you are chasing that vintage Les Paul Tone....
Bridge position
I was like , am I really gonna hear the difference ? Yes !!! Yes I did !!! Added some warmth to my les Paul Studio's bridge and neck tone controls on clean and sounds better on overdrive and distortion than it ever did ! Originally months ago I put in a treble bleed circuits (capacitor's and resistor's) smoothed up the tones when I changed out the pots Worked… read more great , but now I added this , should of did it when I was rewiring ! . Clean all around and smooth .Took less than 5 minutes each With the .022uf in the neck tone pot , And this .047uf on the bridge tone pot. They are kinda large but the guitars pot's cavity has lots of room to accommodate them . Liked it so much I gave it a great cleaning and restrung it , its like a new guitar with new tone ! Love my Paul ! Studio may not be the best but I like it better than some costing 3 times as much , sounds great not even plugged in ,with a great feel . It's a really nice factory painted Green . It's a beaut , and sounds to match . I don't know about other makes of guitars , but on a Les Paul what are waiting for, Mommy to install it ? Gonna do it to my old totally redone 65 Gibson Melody Maker SG too ! It's got some smoking humbucking Dimarzio's in it ! Can't wait ! And thanks Sweetwater Ordered Friday - got it Monday ! 1/2 hr later installed and playing . Then came the cleaning and restringing !
Make your tone knob actually work
Well, in the guitar world there is lots of mysterious and subjective terms used to describe the "tone" of pickups, strings, pedals, amps, woods etc. So one is always wondering if the thing you are going to add to your setup is really going to be noticeable.... well fear not, unless you are completely tone deaf (or do not have a tone knob) you will notice the difference. In fact… read more I used to hate my tone knob, I referred to it as the "suck" control. Well not anymore, I will now immediately get one of these for every guitar I own.
