Epiphone limited edition 1959 Les Paul
I just want to say that my Epiphone 1959 Les Paul exclusive Sweetwater edition is wonderful I called Matthew k we talked about it and two days later I had it. It was in perfect playing condition right out of the box, I love it please and sounds just as good as my Gibson Les Paul so thank you so very much Sweetwater and Matthew k.
Very Nice Guitar for the Money
In some ways, I like it better than my Gibson 60's Standard LP in Lemon Burst. The Gibson sounds more expensive frankly, but this is a banger for the price. The Epiphone I have is at least a pound lighter than my Gibson, so it gets a brighter, snappier, more rock n' roll tone and response. I also got a bone nut installed which I recommend. I love it. I'll probably be playing it… read more as much as my Gibson. Anyone looking for the Holy Grail of guitars that isn't ready to sacrifice 6500 big ones should check into this.
Epiphone 59 LP sweet water custom color
Buying my 3rd I love these guitar s very well built and sound great you can't believe the quality I prefer these to gibson
Great Guitar and Excellent Customer service!
I have been wanting a Les Paul cherry burst color for many years, and this a great looking, sounding, and playing guitar! The day after I placed my order Adam, one of their sales engineers, called to tell me the guitar I ordered was on back order, and it could weeks before it was in stock again. The next day Adam called to tell me he had some of the guitar color I ordered in.… read more He emailed and texts me pics to pick the color I liked best. He got the guitar shipped out that day. My guitar arrived missing the toggle switch tip, but after a follow up with Adam that is being sent to me. If you're looking for a great guitar this is what you are looking for. Exceptional customer service! I will definitely do more business with them in the future.
None the Les
This is one terrific guitar! The feel of the neck, the finish and oh, the sustain! If your quiver lacks a LP and your budget isn't all that Gibsony, this guitar is a great choice. I love mine.
Fantastic guitar for the price
I've owned cheap guitars and pretty expensive guitars over the years ($). This guitar feels great. It plays great. It sounds great. For the price I was really worried because let's be honest, most $ Gibsons suck, and epiphone isn't the "highest quality" guitar at times, but I really liked how this looked and something told me to just get it. And I'm beyond happy that I did. I promise… read more you it's worth at least TRYING but I find it hard to believe that you will be dissatisfied. Do yourself a favor. Get one.
The best Epiphone I have ever played!
I bought this guitar online, which was a first for me, because I wanted the exclusive Honey Burst color. Sweetwater didn't disappoint as the guitar arrived in immaculate condition and shipping was very fast. Epiphone outdid themselves here adding the high quality pots, switches, jack, and if course Gibson Burstbuckers. The included case was the kicker! The guitar itself feels like… read more a real Les Paul. Heavy and lots of sustain. The neck feels fast because the finish is more satin than gloss. My only complaint is the nut. Why not real bone? Easy fix I suppose. Wonderful guitar for the money!!
Absolutely Gorgeous
Well worth the wait: beautiful to look at, kickass tones, awesome playability, and of course a perfect set-up job from the Sweetwater folks. Special shout out to my always responsive tech, Ashton V.!
It was even in tune...
First time buying a guitar online. I was at wits end trying to find this locally because guitars can be so inconsistent that I prefer to play before I buy. I couldn't find it anywhere in my state or bordering states, so, I took the plunge. The guitar came very securely packed, it was free of any blemishes, and it was in tune when I checked! I literally just had to plug it in,… read more adjust tone and volume, and play. I love the fuller neck, the sustain, and was amazed the frets were even pretty smooth. I'll buy another in a different finish!
Just WOW!
Let me start by saying I own some high-end Gibson CS LP's, but I got this as a gift as my family knew my first guitar was an Epiphone. Out of the box, the finish is nice, everything was perfect except the top of the frets, they were smooth and not sharp on the sides though. Not even a blemish on the finish. The case was kind of plastic-ey on the outside but still better than nothing… read more (or a gig bag) the interior was really nice and soft. I opened it up and verified it did have all the correct pots, switches, and pickups. When I tuned it up and played it I noticed the frets were gritty on the top, making string bending difficult. I immediately went to the store, got some new NYXL strings, 1500 grit sandpaper, 00 steel wool, fret polish and blue masking tape. I spent an hour doing a setup and sanding and polishing the frets. Slapped the new strings on, did a setup, and OH MY GOD. This thing was playing & sounding AMAZING! I hate to say it, but it plays and sounds just as good as my 2.7k Gibson LP Standard. I'm still in shock at how good this guitar really is after just a little bit of work by me. Had I purchased this myself, I would not be disappointed. I've been playing this guitar every day now. I will still give it 5 stars just because I am that impressed regardless of the fret tops. Buy one, set it up and don't look back! - I may even buy one in another color!
Excellent on all accounts
Service and shipping from Sweetwater were excellent. After having this guitar for a week now, I can say that I'm incredibly impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. It arrived set up perfectly, and no adjustments were necessary. There was slight fret buzz for the first couple of days, but the frets just need to be broken in and smoothed down. The instrument is beautiful, and… read more of the 4 options, this Sweetwater exclusive looks excellent in the pink-lined case. Truly a steal. Get it while you can.
The 60s vibe is goin on
My 3rd Les Paul and 1st Epiphone. This will be for slide and 440. I'm stupefied. I would not hesitate to perform with this instrument. These are a steal. Price is sure to go up. My instrument was ready to play out the box and as always the Sweetwater staff are all about the customer and business.
Worth the wait.
Love it. Neck is definitely chunkier than a 60 slim taper. Once you get used to that though it sounds great, when I'm about to record I find myself using this over my others. Love the finish on it too. Using it tonight again.
Gibson Enough!!!
Considering the fact that I didn't own a Gibson beyond my Studio model, I knew I had to have this Epiphone. Before I picked it up from Sweetwater, I first had it plekked. I will one day buy a Gibson Les Paul Standard but in the meantime, I'm really glad that I bought this guitar. I love everything about it. It sounds fantastic and the veneer looks great!!!
Breathtaking guitar
Honestly such a gorgeous guitar. Sounds like a dream, plays perfectly. Jim and the Sweetwater team got this out to me so fast. I can't stop picking it up, even when I know I need to give my fingers a break.
Merry Christmas to me!
Ok, so I bought one of these. It was backordered, but only for a few days, and it arrived quickly once shipped. Long story short, this guitar plays great and sounds even better. I have owned a Gibson LP Traditional and Gibson Studio LP, and I think this one sounds as good or better. I love the thicker neck. I have sorta big hands, but not giant mitts, and this fits perfectly. The… read more frets were not gritty like some people mentioned. A couple were not mirror polished, but after a little playing, they're just fine. The fret ends are good and comfy. I have been playing this through my Marshall DSL 20 with no pedals, and I can really get all the tones I need. I am not going to sell my pedal board, but just goin' straight into the Marshall gives me blues, rock (of course) and jazzy tones for days. I'm not a gear snob, and I don't care that it says 'Epiphone' on the headstock. Epiphone was good enough for John Lee Hooker, so it's good enough for me. It's the tone and quality I care about. The Switchcraft toggle and jack are a noticeable upgrade over the ones on a Epi Sheraton I had. This is a hell of a guitar. One thing - I wasn't sure about the matt finish, so I polished the front of the body of it with Turtle Wax polishing compound. It shines up quickly. I didn't take it to a mirror finish, so it still has the 'aged' look, kind of like the real old LP's have, but it's pretty dang shiny. I didn't do the back or the neck. The neck feels so good right out of the box, you'll never want to mess with it. That was just me messing with it. The stock finish looked fine, and a lot better in person than in the pictures.
Love this Guitar
Was looking for a Les Paul to learn with and was looking for quality as well as a middle price point without going $1K+ and this '59 Tribute Epiphone is more than I asked for. Tuned out of the box with this excellent hard case to come with. Highly recommend! Thanks to Brook at Sweetwater for solid communication and quick deliver once in stock.
Epiphone 59
I have 4 epiphone standards that I like to use all have Seymore Duncan pickups and redone electronics and pots switches jacks etc .But from the time I got this one ,I knew it will stay as it comes.Great job guys. After letting it get acclimated as suggested, I plugged her in and ripped into communication breakdown Sounded awesome Great guitar guys and clean sounded awesome too.Get… read more em while u can .
My new Epiphone Les Paul limited
I ain't even got it yet, but I bet it's gonna be awesome. First guitar I've ever bought "site unseen." They're gonna plek my frets and put a bone nut on it! Keaton is my Sweetwater rep. I bet he's a player. Very cool and professional guy. He knows guitars! He knows what I'm looking for. He's a young guy, I'm 63, I think we're on the same page. Epi 59 Les Paul Standard Sweetwater Exclusive colors
Sweetwater and Epiphone no doubt ended up getting their wires crossed on the original exclusive honey burst color. The picture ads on the website and internet changed weekly from the beginning of sales in November until announcing the Heritage Cherry Fade color recently in 2021. A couple of the early Epi 59's that are on the internet looked like a dirty lemon burst, and some looked… read more like a light cherry burst, tomato soup burst, peach burst, tangerine burst, or a candy apple burst. They were all called Exclusive Aged Honey Burst Gloss, but they are not that close to IMO what guitarist and collectors see as Honey Burst. As of now there are five colors available on the new 1959 Epiphone Les Paul standards. Four colors are available to order at Sweetwater, two standard colors, and two Exclusive colors. Another color called "Southern Fade" is available through another music store. I ordered a "early mix breed" Honey Burst from Sweetwater in November that was actually made in late September according to the serial number. My 59 Epi Les Paul looks more like the newer Sweetwater Exclusive color Heritage Cherry Fade. Regardless of the colors, Epiphone and Gibson hit a homerun with this guitar and they have been pretty hard to get since the release date in November. I like many of the early owners thought we would probably get a Honey Burst that looked like a Honey Burst lol, but this old boy is happy and loves everything about the guitar including the colors and the mesmerizing maple top. Hope this review helps buyers and explains how the exclusive colors of the 59 LP came to be. Btw, my Epi 59 Les Paul was Professionally Plek'd and set up by Sweetwater before sending the guitar out the door. My guess is that Epi is making so many guitars that they get the colors, options, and orders a bit confused at times. As far as quality goes, the guitar I have is pretty much flawless and it has awesome playability and sound. If you want a new Les Paul at a 1970's price, get a new 59 Epi Les Paul if you can find one, or get one on order at Sweetwater! Lets all work together to defeat the Covid virus and get back to enjoying Live Music in America!
