Very Nice Guitar for the Money
In some ways, I like it better than my Gibson 60's Standard LP in Lemon Burst. The Gibson sounds more expensive frankly, but this is a banger for the price. The Epiphone I have is at least a pound lighter than my Gibson, so it gets a brighter, snappier, more rock n' roll tone and response. I also got a bone nut installed which I recommend. I love it. I'll probably be playing it… read more as much as my Gibson. Anyone looking for the Holy Grail of guitars that isn't ready to sacrifice 6500 big ones should check into this.
The best Epiphone I have ever played!
I bought this guitar online, which was a first for me, because I wanted the exclusive Honey Burst color. Sweetwater didn't disappoint as the guitar arrived in immaculate condition and shipping was very fast. Epiphone outdid themselves here adding the high quality pots, switches, jack, and if course Gibson Burstbuckers. The included case was the kicker! The guitar itself feels like… read more a real Les Paul. Heavy and lots of sustain. The neck feels fast because the finish is more satin than gloss. My only complaint is the nut. Why not real bone? Easy fix I suppose. Wonderful guitar for the money!!
It was even in tune...
First time buying a guitar online. I was at wits end trying to find this locally because guitars can be so inconsistent that I prefer to play before I buy. I couldn't find it anywhere in my state or bordering states, so, I took the plunge. The guitar came very securely packed, it was free of any blemishes, and it was in tune when I checked! I literally just had to plug it in,… read more adjust tone and volume, and play. I love the fuller neck, the sustain, and was amazed the frets were even pretty smooth. I'll buy another in a different finish!
Breathtaking guitar
Honestly such a gorgeous guitar. Sounds like a dream, plays perfectly. Jim and the Sweetwater team got this out to me so fast. I can't stop picking it up, even when I know I need to give my fingers a break.
Merry Christmas to me!
Ok, so I bought one of these. It was backordered, but only for a few days, and it arrived quickly once shipped. Long story short, this guitar plays great and sounds even better. I have owned a Gibson LP Traditional and Gibson Studio LP, and I think this one sounds as good or better. I love the thicker neck. I have sorta big hands, but not giant mitts, and this fits perfectly. The… read more frets were not gritty like some people mentioned. A couple were not mirror polished, but after a little playing, they're just fine. The fret ends are good and comfy. I have been playing this through my Marshall DSL 20 with no pedals, and I can really get all the tones I need. I am not going to sell my pedal board, but just goin' straight into the Marshall gives me blues, rock (of course) and jazzy tones for days. I'm not a gear snob, and I don't care that it says 'Epiphone' on the headstock. Epiphone was good enough for John Lee Hooker, so it's good enough for me. It's the tone and quality I care about. The Switchcraft toggle and jack are a noticeable upgrade over the ones on a Epi Sheraton I had. This is a hell of a guitar. One thing - I wasn't sure about the matt finish, so I polished the front of the body of it with Turtle Wax polishing compound. It shines up quickly. I didn't take it to a mirror finish, so it still has the 'aged' look, kind of like the real old LP's have, but it's pretty dang shiny. I didn't do the back or the neck. The neck feels so good right out of the box, you'll never want to mess with it. That was just me messing with it. The stock finish looked fine, and a lot better in person than in the pictures.
