Very nice Les Paul

This guitar doesn't need another 5 star review, but I'm going to write one anyway. Make no mistake, this is a Les Paul through and through. It has everything you you need. It may not have the binding or the fancy finish, but it plays and SOUNDS like a Les Paul. THE SUSTAIN! I have not played my other guitar since I got this. I bought this after watching a tour of the Gibson factory read more on youtube. The tribute is made on the same manufacturing line, by American workers. It's a USA Gibson, and I got a really nice one. Thank you Sweetwater, and thanks to my sales Engineer Jonathan Appleton.

Quality at a good price!

I'm a beginner. Started with a Squire strat then bought a Gretsch semi hollow streamline Jr. Now this Les Paul Tribute. I switch around to all three when practicing as each has a distinctive sound to my ear. The Les Paul for sure has the best sound for the ZZTOP riffs I'm learning. The satin finish makes it more affordable and it's beautiful! I have zero negatives of the quality. read more Though as most know, it is heavy by comparison but you forget about that as you play and hear the tones come out of the amp. Whoever named this color "Iced Tea" was spot on. Looking at it reminds you of a jar of ice tea sitting in the sun. This guitar came ready to play out of the box with just a tweek of tuning. Intonation was spot on. Very pleased with this purchase.

Amazing guitar in every way!

I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of buying a made in the USA Les Paul. I tried a few models: from the Tribute all the way to the Standard. While always budget-conscious, I was ready to go higher if justified. The Tribute has the satin finish I liked and mostly the maple neck that is simply amazing to me. I went through Kris-amazing guy- at Sweetwater and picked the Honeyburst. read more It came 3 days later and was perfect out of the box. It is lighter but no too light ( 8 lbs. even). It has a tone that exceeded my expectations and yes I love the 490s that work well with my tube amp. A bargain IMHO as this holds to other model in the Gibson line to me. Grab one before Gibson jacks the price up!

The nicest Gibson I have ever owned or played.

Perfect straight out of the box. The only thing I changed was to lighter ga strings. I don't need to do any other mods to this. If you are thinking about dipping your toe in the Les Paul pool, the tribute is a killer guitar and comparable to Les Pauls twice the price. One of the best guitars in my collection.

Surprisingly Terrific

This guitar is pleasantly surprising in every way. Not only does it sound terrific and play like a dream, it is a beautiful instrument. Unlike previous Tribute models, the fit and finish on this guitar is superb. It felt like an old friend right out of the case. Also, I got a professional setup from Sweetwater, so no tweaking was required. It was, simply put, perfect. It has that read more classic Les Paul sound, and mine is refreshingly light, at about 7.5 pounds. So, a shout out to the luthiers at the Sweetwater Guitar Workshop for doing a great job. And thanks to my sales rep, Norb, for taking good care of me.

Great value

First thing is I have no complaints about the guitar at all. Only a couple nit pickers. You have to add the poker chip to the switch(added one for12$) and why on earth the crappy gig bag there adding this go around. Bought mine 5 months ago and got the deluxe baseball mitt leather gig bag with the red plush inside. (Those bags are friggin A+++ nice). Besides that the guitar friggin read more screams, love it.

Learning on my Dream Guitar

I recently was fortunate enough to purchase this. I am a drummer percussionist who has dreamed of playing a Les Paul since I was a kid. The Gibson Les Paul has always been the "Very Top" for me. So I felt the Tribute model would be a good way for me to start with the very best brand/model, yet being at the beginning of my experience. I am not able to speak to exacting technicalities read more that the pros or more experienced would. But coupled with the Blackstar 40 watt Club40 MkII amp, I am discovering some awesome tones! No complaints whatsoever about how this guitar feels, plays or looks. It also included the matching cream-colored pickup switch ring, which is useful but also adds that classic LP look. I am having a blast playing and learning on the vaunted Les Paul! Currently working on learning a Casting Crowns song, "Jesus, Friend of Sinners", as well as "I hear You Knocking" by Dave Edmunds, "Give me Some Water" by Eddie Money, "Wonderful Tonight" and "Let it Grow" by Eric Clapton, and "Back in the USSR" by the Beatles. Living the dream. What a joy… right now, I am a 55-year-old kid in the candy store! Highly recommend.

Surprisingly Great!

I did not expect this play or sound as good as it does. I was pleasantly surprised. It plays everything from crystal clean to metal. The pickups are clear and articulate. This one is worth the money.

Excellent Guitar

I've had Giitah for two weeks now, so it's review time! Giitah is a 2021 Gibson Les Paul Tribute. The Tribute is a variation of the Studio, minus the coil splitting options. It's lighter than a Les Paul Standard thanks to the 'ultra modern weight relief (see Gibson's website for a detailed description of this pattern of wood removal)' performed on the mahogany body. The combination read more of weight relived body, solid two piece maple top, and three piece maple neck makes this guitar weigh just 8 lbs, 3 ounces. Neck: the Neck is thick, close in feel to some of the later 1950s guitars. The satin finish makes for a very smooth feeling. The fingerboard is rosewood, with 22 medium sized frets. There is no fingerboard binding. Electronics: Gibson 490R and 490T pickups, and the usual Les Paul control system. The pickups are clear and have a nice bite to them. Volume and tone pots are smooth and responsive. The selector switch is quiet. Hardware: Standard stop tailpiece, and the Nashville tune'o'matic bridge. The tuners are the horrible Gibson classics, and will be replaced with Grover lockers this week. Finish: The satin finish, and tobacco sunburst top lend a 1970s feel to this instrument that make me want to grow a moustache and play some Nazareth. In all seriousness this is an absolutely beautiful instrument. I can't adequately express how happy I am with this guitar. It plays like a dream. The weight relief does not diminish the sustain, which goes on forever. It is beautifully setup, and the action is superbly low. Major kudos to Sweetwater. It had been backordered for quite a while, but when it became available I had it in 4 days. It even arrived in tune with itself, about a step below standard tuning. This guitar is a must have for any serious music room warrior.

This Les Paul with its satin finish, maple neck plays like a broken in masterpiece. Sweetwater described the pick up sound to a tee they have classic PAF sound with just a little more " bite" and clarity they are extremely responsive to my ear they are some of Gibson's best. You can't go wrong buying through Sweetwater their support and sales team are like no other company they actually read more care about customers. Matt Zuleger one of the best to work with !! Payment plans they offer are convenient and simple I would like to see in the future possibly a 12 month option on their plans though

Don’t think about it, just get it!

This guitar rocks! If you like guitars with a chunky neck you'll want this one. The pickups in this guitar sound great. It works for Randy Rhoads and Van Halen stuff really well. If you were thinking about getting an LP I would recommend this not only because of the price tag, but because it sounds so dang good.

I love the Les Paul.

Its a great Les Paul. I have others and holds its own against my standard. The Satin finish is smooth The neck is great for lead playing what else can I say.

Best buy on the market

Something special about having a really good Gibson guitar in your hands. The neck, the body and the sound just can't be duplicated by any other guitar and I don't care how good you Epiphone is. There is no comparison to the real thing. It's just a special guitar.

Functional Beauty At It’s Finest

I've gravitated toward Fender and Gretsch for about all of my guitar playing life. There have been MANY songs that just needed that growl and grind that only an overdriven Gibson Les Paul can deliver. I was excited to discover this Tribute model. It's just the ticket for everything I needed and nothing I didn't. Love Sweetwater's pictures of individual guitars to select from. read more While looking, there was one with a fairly figured maple top cap and neck back. It spoke to me and I immediately ordered it. It came perfectly set up and was amazingly in tune out of the box. Gibson's new soft case is awesome. If I gigged a lot or traveled much I would probably opt for a hard case, but this case is fine for me. I plugged into one of my Orange amps and was rewarded with the tone I was wanting for many years. I would highly recommend this guitar. Thanks to Sweetwater for doing business the way they do and to my rep, Tyler Nigro.

This is the best axe out of all!!!

I love this axe I mean the satin finish is so nice. I prefer this satin finish over a glossy finish on a guitar . Not to mention you hand fells like it's gliding down the neck. I want to thank my sales engineer Andy Miller. While this may be my first time ordering from sweet water it will surely not be my last.

Awesome Guitar, Awesome Experience!

Mike R

Was little hesitant to buy a guitar that I haven't played. But Sweetwater knocked it out of the park. Being able to choose which guitar, wood grains, colors, etc. from the actual pictures taken was great! Then I opened the guitar case when it got here and not only did it look better than the pictures, it was in tune and intonated! I didn't have to spend the first 30 or so minutes read more tuning it up and intonating. I literally took it out of the case, plugged it in, and played. The guitar was perfect. Looked to be wiped down as there were no dust, fingerprints, etc. No surprise dings, dents, missing parts that you sometimes find when you pick up guitars at other stores. Everything about my Sweetwater experience was great and I would not hesitate to buy another guitar from them.
